Sounds set to be made by the subatomic God particle at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have been simulated by scientists aiming to make the £6bn experiment more accessible.
Finding the Higgs boson also known as the God particle is the primary aim of the LHC experiment because it will provide an insight into the nature of all matter. It is hoped the subatomic particle will emerge from the 27km circular tunnel under the Swiss-French border where beams of proton particles are being smashed together.
LHC Sound, a collaboration of particle physicists, musicians and artists in London, has converted data expected from collisions into sounds in a process called sonification.
The data was provided by the LHC's Atlas experiment which includes a calorimeter measuring the energy from collisions. The note and pitch of the sound varies with the amount of energy recorded.
LHC Sound is planning live performances of the data during the summer but early simulations of the particles can be heard here.

“Unfortunate” no school textbooks will ever be able to discuss what these scientists have done.
SOUNDS LIKE PIANO AND DRUMS?
Astronomers at the University of Sheffield have managed to record for the first time the eerie musical harmonies produced by the magnetic field in the outer atmosphere of the sun.

SOUNDS LIKE PIANO AND DRUMS?
What, no bass and guitar? I thought string theory predicted we would be hearing some stellar riffs.
“sounded a little like ‘oof,’” the spokesman did not say.
It’s the sound of a million head-crabs coming in our direction.
Playing it backwards i swear it sounds like “I buried Paul”
Isn’t that the reverb you hear during many of Obama’s speeches?
How do you play it backwards?
Don’t you think there’s already enough violins in the universe?
it would be funny if God showed up at the Hadron Collider looking for one of his particles.
“Higgs boson”
Why didn’t they use a bosun’s pipe? That sounds pretty pretty.
Surely, you know that he is joking.
It’s probably the Intel signature sound.
“Half-Life” reference?
Mission from God accomplished.

The headline makes it appear that the LHC has captured the “sound” of the Higgs Bosun. In reality, they’ve just simulated what they think the sound will be, if and when they do find the particle.
LOL...NO I didn’t...
