One of the nation's top legal teams regarding civil and religious rights has stepped into a dispute stemming from last weekend's Arab Festival in Dearborn, Mich., where police are accused of enforcing Islamic law.
"Officers arrested four Christian missionaries and illegally confiscated their video cameras which were recording the events surrounding their arrests," said a statement today from the Thomas More Law Center of Ann Arbor, Mich.
Officials in the police department with the city of Dearborn declined to comment to WND.
"These Christian missionaries were exercising their constitutional rights to free speech and the free exercise of religion, but apparently the Constitution carries little weight in Dearborn, where the Muslim population seems to dominate the political apparatus," said Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center.

Today sharia in Dearborn, where next?
This is beyond belief.
And today just happens to be the feast day for St. Thomas More.
I watched the entire video on WND and it really sickened me. Just sickened me. I want to know who these security people were that actually seemed to be part of the problem - and not all of them were Muslim either.
Please ping to the Michigan ping list!!!
To paraphrase a old Navy man. “When we finish with them, Islam will be a religion practiced only in Hell”...

I learn more about my city of residence from WND and Debbie Shusel (sp?) than I do by living here....
For this article, I am a bit torn. I don’t hold WND in very high esteem for credibility, however the Thomas Moore Law Center does seem to be very credible.
Mayor Hubbard loved that city and kept it nice far longer than the surrounding areas. He was a great guy too, shopped at my FIL’s store all the time.
Originally they came to work at the Ford plants. Rumor has it Henry Ford hated Jews with a passion which was part of it, but he hired Muslims freely. After a small tight knit community was formed there Hubbard made it even more attractive by keeping the area safer longer than the surrounding neighborhoods turned. Word got out that Dearborn was the place to be so half of the middle east packed up and moved there. My FIL had a store at the corner of Warren and Appoluine(?), a couple of blocks off of Schrieffer for a long, long time. We watched the decline from front row seats.
Yes, in fact that's more than rumor, it's documented in many of the pieces he wrote in the Dearborn Independent, a newspaper he purchased around 1920. But the old man died in 1947, and the heirs were never known to be antisemitic.
The Arabs could not have come over in any large numbers until after the Kennedy brothers helped change the immigration law drastically in 1965, and it would have taken a number of years after that for anyone to notice.
Hubbard died sometime in the 1970s. He was known as "the George Wallace of the North." Did he ever have anything specifically to do with them or say to them during his time as mayor?
Dearbornistan is not christian friendly.
He was far more concerned about the blacks moving in and turning Dearborn into an extension of Detroit to be honest, and yes the man used the Dearborn Police to enforce that with a heavy hand at times. Do you live hear Dearborn, have you been in that area lately? Last time I was at my FIL's old store I had to step back and really look just to find a single sign on a building or awning that was in English.
Maybe it is appropriate for East Dearborn, but not for West Dearborn. It is truly two cities in one.
“Dearbornistan is not christian friendly.”
It is in my neighborhood.
