White House Says Budget Director Is Stepping Down
Wall Street Journal ^ | June 22, 2010 | Jonathan Weisman

WASHINGTON—The White House said budget director Peter Orszag, one of the most visible members of President Barack Obama's economic team, will be leaving his post this summer.

Mr. Orszag, the most senior official to leave the Obama administration, will step down in July, two administration officials said.

Officials close to Mr. Orszag noted that he had served nearly four stressful years in similar posts, first as director of the Congressional Budget Office, then as Mr. Obama's first director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Mr. Orszag helped steer through Congress a $797 billion economic-stimulus bill in his first weeks at the White House job before becoming one of the driving forces in shaping the health-care law.

He told the Associated Press on Tuesday that he viewed the passage of last year's economic-stimulus bill as his most significant accomplishment.

The president had wanted a decision from Mr. Orszag before the fall, when the administration will begin putting together the fiscal 2011 budget amid some of the greatest budget pressures in modern U.S. history.

He has illegitimate babies and panting women to deal with, he doesn’t have time for petty politics.

Does this have anything to do with Congress not passing a budget?

“Does this have anything to do with Congress not passing a budget?”

Probably, but you won’t hear about it anywhere.

"Mr. Orszag helped steer through Congress a $797 billion economic-stimulus bill in his first weeks at the White House job before becoming one of the driving forces in shaping the health-care law. '

Is this supposed to be some record of achievement and of something to be proud?

They just as easily could have written this sentence as...

"Mr. Orzag spent more borrowed money than anyone one person in the history of borrowed money. Mr's Orzag's children, and the rest of America's children will be paying for the spendthrift budget solutions championed by him personally."

“Is this supposed to be some record of achievement and of something to be proud?”

What’s a crack-up is that despite his fingerprints being all over health care reform,
“he viewed the passage of last year’s economic-stimulus bill as his most significant accomplishment.”

That tells me even HE is embarrassed by the mess titled “health care reform” that finally got enacted, not to mention the thoroughly corrupt process used to secure votes for it.

“Stay with the administration, or shack up with this business reporter?”

I’m sure it was an agonizing decision. No doubt he told Obama it was a REALLY close call...

The deficit is lingering at nearly 10% of the gross domestic product. Even under the president's assumptions on declining health-care spending and a freeze on nonsecurity domestic spending, the deficit wouldn't drop to what Mr. Orszag has called sustainable levels over the next decade without a sharper policy response.

The commission is looking at cuts to discretionary spending and entitlements such as Social Security and Medicare, as well as an overhaul of the tax code that would simplify taxation and bring in more revenue.

"sharper policy response" and "bring in more revenue:" wonder what those phrases mean? Good timing, Mr. Orszag. Enjoy your honeymoon.

At first glance, Obama’s in danger and reshuffling his cabinet so that he doesn’t take on water. But then you see this and the headline about how Congress will submit no budget ...which may be unconstitutional (need to verify?). Bankruptcy or some historic fiscal crisis, anyone?

This White House is already deep in chaos and not even half way through his only term, as Obama will be a one term wonder.

On topic however, at least the rat jumping ship has good taste in commie MSM reporters. He must be doing something right.

The happy couple.

Well! I finally learned what you were talking about.

Buried in yet another article about the McChrystal firing, etc.: Barack Obama's firing of Stanley McChrystal showed weakness and will backfire

Little noticed amid the McChrystal kerfuffle was the announcement that Obama's wunderkind budget director, the nerdy but lusty Peter Orszag (a 41-year-old divorcee, last year he fathered a child out of wedlock with one glamourpuss and became engaged to another), was departing the administration. A prime reason, Orszag has let it be known, has been his inability to get on with Larry Summers, the Holbrooke of the economic team. The feuding between the staffs of Orszag and Summers had made McChrystal and Eikenberry look like best buddies.

Now, was there anything in there you DIDN'T know, or do you know EVERYTHING?/ Haha, just teasing you....

Who would have thought a nerd with a bad hairpiece, Yasser Arafat good looks and a voice like Candace Bergen could be such catnip to women.
