Obama has screwed up Afganistan. No wonder he and his team are not respected by the military. This is bad though, that it's come to the fore in the media.

So, is Rolling Stone going to be our new source of information that the MSM is covering up?

How bizarre.

But this seems to be their second attack on Obama in a very short time. First BPGate, and now this.

I have some ultra-liberal friends who hate Obama for what they consider to be his betrayal of the cause. They pretty much gave up on him last winter. Is this what is motivating Rolling Stone’s editors?

Never thought I would say it, but.....bring our troops home now!
They are just sitting ducks with this CIC.

I can see why some foreign nations have been overtaken by the military.

“This is bad though, that it’s come to the fore in the media.”

I was thinking similar thoughts as I read this. I’d bet a shakeup is coming soon.

IMO it's not just about Afghanistan.

Obama's weakness in the presidency creates a leadership vacuum and the very existence of such vacuum encourages people up and down the chain of command to lose discipline...and talk.

And if we hear it in the press, we can bet that what we hear is just the tip of the iceberg.

Organizations that depend of leadership unravel when that ingredient is missing...and this is evidence of that. And if it is visible in the military, it exists in the civilian bureaucracies in spades.

Obama cannot command respect because he is a worm.

..and a child shall lead them.. but Where? beats the heck out of me... and him.

US President Barack Obama is seen in Washington, DC, June 20, 2010. Tensions between General Stanley McChrystal and the White House are on full display in an unflattering profile in Rolling Stone of the commander of US and NATO forces in the Afghan war. (AFP/Mandel Ngan)

On a serious note, the terms “a clown” and “a wounded animal” are two descriptions so benign that I wouldn’t even consider them to occupy my armory of maledictions when referring to the marxists running the show.

Open civil war is breaking out on the left.

One aspect of it will be that some will pretend that Her Thighness is superior to Ozero when really her positions are much the same.

But Clintonistas will be stuck because she (and the DLC) likes to pretend she is "moderate". However, the far left is presently sick of "moderates" so they are likely to shaft her too. They're in a mess.

The aides (and many of the rest of us) know what Sam Adams told us 229 years ago
"Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man." Samuel Adams

"The liberties of our Country, the freedom of our civil constitution are worth defending at all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have receiv'd them as a fair Inheritance from our worthy Ancestors: They purchas'd them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood; and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us without a struggle; or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men." - Samuel Adams

Wow. Rolling Stone and the Liberals are turning on Obama.

It’s bad enough that we have NATO weinies involved in this war but now we have Obozo in Chief.

This is going south.

What a nightmare this administration is.

I can't wait until Allen West is President. Jan. 2013 can't come soon enough!

Yeah, but none of that yucky military stuff is all that relevant, as long as he can end Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and put women on submarines.

McChrystal and/or many of his subordinates will be removed in short order, so that Obama can reassert his “command” over the situation in Afghanistan.

Nevermind he hasn’t a clue what he’s doing. The surge strategy that worked in Iraq CAN work in Afghanistan — but it hasn’t been tried. several differences between the Iraq strategy and the Afghanistan strategy point to the latters weaknesses: (1) The numbers in Iraq were much larger compared to those in Afghanistan (2) the buildup for the surge was much more rapid in Iraq than in Afghanistan (3) President Bush set NO deadline for withdrawal of troops or even an end to the surge operation, but Obama has done BOTH in Afghanistan (4) In Iraq, theater commanders and indeed soldiers on the ground had much more favorable ROE (Rules of Engagement) than they do now under the Obama Regime in Afghanistan.

Our military can’t fight with one hand tied behind it’s back. Our Generals can’t run a war while worrying about the politics of their every move, of how the results of each battle will look on the evening news. Give them what they need to WIN — or bring them home NOW.

Understand, in NO uncertain terms, however, that bringing them home NOW means defeat. WE LOSE. And it also means that the enemies that reoccupy Afghanistan now, will be strengthened, emboldened, and will likely conquer other small nations surrounding Afghanistan within a very short time — Pakistan and it’s NUKES FIRST. And, finally, understand that within 5 years, we’ll be fighting these same Islamofascists around the world and probably in our own streets — because they will have nukes — and if they HAVE nukes, they will USE nukes. And if they use nukes, they won’t only use nukes against Israel, they WILL find a way to hit us.

If you are ready to face those probabilities, then pulling out of Afghanistan now, forfeiting the war there, makes sense. It’s not like we have a realistic alternative of actually WINNING with Obama in the White House. Just recognize the rock and the hard place we are caught between.....

Would this have anything to do with Great Leader’s Rules of Engagement?

Yes, this is really unprecedented in my half century of news addiction. It goes back to the Truman-MacArthur impasse over Korea for a parallel. McChrystal should resign before he is relieved of command. It is the right and honorable thing for him to do. Apologies do not count--they are universally recognized as capitulation, and therefore dishonorable garbage.

So, the gist of the article is that some unnamed, anonymous military personnel may have made reference to unnamed, anonymous advisors to Obama as a “clown” and “disappointing.” I’m shocked that adults would behave in such a polite, mild manner when dealing with life and death issues.
