(1) The informed are in a state of outrage.
(2) The uninformed, who outnumber them, are interested in what's for dinner, what's on TV tonight, and how much a gallon of gasoline costs. If they are working, they are worried about losing their job. If they are not working, they want their benefits indefinitely extended.
(3) That set of facts is probably enough to generate a 55% turnout in the Congressional elections this fall and the give the Republicans control of at least The House.
None of those 3 facts, although there is hope, is a cure for what ails us. There is:
I think the conservative leadership has to know that there are lots of us who realize the utter lawlessness that we’re living in and we want to solve the root causes that got us here. We HAVE to address the vulnerabilities of the system that destroyed our ability to petition the government for a redress of grievances - because everything this administration has done is a grievance, yet because the whole country is being screwed at once we the people don’t have standing to even attempt to get justice.
Obama’s people have been bombarding us with SO MANY violations of law that we CAN’T simply address them one at a time. We have to plug the damn hole - the system that refuses to enforce the law because it is not accountable to the people who know that crimes are being committed.
If conservative leaders can focus their attention onto the root vulnerabilities that got us here, they can come up with a strategy. Unfortunately, I don’t think they see the big picture. Their response to the “birthers” tells me that. It tells me they have no clue the level of lawlessness we’re dealing with, or how much critical infrastructure has already been lost to the political mob.
My focus with the eligibility issue has always been the utter failure - and downright treason at this point - of government, media, and law enforcement. As long as a politician believes the eligibility issue is too delicate, risky, or “conspiratorial”, they DEFINITELY DON’T COMPREHEND WHERE WE’RE AT OR THE DRASTIC MEASURES NECESSARY.
When we have leaders who are in tune with the public enough and aware of the position of lawlessness that we’re in, they will answer media questions about whether Obama needs to prove his eligibility with “Hell, yes!” None of this tentative, afraid-of-media-reaction-or-backlash waffling.
