Embattled BP CEO Tony Hayward canceled his appearance at a meeting of international oil tycoons Tuesday and his firm wouldn't say where he was.

The title of the speech Hayward was supposed to have given at the World National Oil Companies Congress in London: "Key roles and responsibilities of international oil companies in an age of uncertainty."

BP spokesman Jon Pack said Hayward was too busy with his "very heavy schedule of commitments" to the slick-hit Gulf coast.....

Well he was relieved of his Gulf oil cleanup responsibilities a couple weeks early by the chairman of BP so I wasn't surprised to see him go home. As to skipping any other obligations in London??

Yes, maybe he can get in a few rounds with Obama. He seems to have plenty of free time.

“Here Obama, you have all the answers, see ya!”

Love it, I think this what ought to happen, POTUS is not interested in seeking real help or doing anything so let him do with it what he will, who gives a damn? Fishermen, shrimpers and other commercial interests, including the tourist industry ought to start pushing back big time.

Everyone is so squeamish about starting something. Why? What’s there to lose now? Is it time to quietly go into the dark, into slavery or worse?

Hell, Obama wouldn’t meet with Hayward until last week. Now Hayward is the guy to kick for not meeting with someone? LMAO

Hey, Obama got off scott free. Why should I concern myself if Hayward wants to skip a meeting too?

Well, Obama has been AWOL since day one of his election! BIG DAMN DEAL if the outgoing BP guy is enjoying himself.

At least the taxpayers aren't footing the bill unlike we are for the 'King of American' and his entourage of leaching bums.

Rahm has a lot of gall to lecture BP about anything.

I think I remember taxpayer's footing the bill for a water park on the White House grounds for them (& some of the press) to enjoy while Obama skipped out on the Gulf Coast during the oil spill.

Fortunately for all involved, the image of Hayward being "jettisoned" over the last few days has been dutifully consumed like dog biscuits tossed by the MSM- the intended result.

The BP corporate rearrangement was arranged over two weeks ago, well before the show trial.

Friday 4 June 2010 16.20 BST

BP is handing operational control of its clean-up operation in the Gulf of Mexico to its most senior American executive, following mounting criticism of its conduct since the environmental catastrophe began.....

BP is creating a new division to deal with the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon rig disaster....

The creation of the disaster-tackling unit is a sign that the clean-up operation, and resulting legal action, will run for years....

This may have been done to incorporate some part of BP's GOM operations into a separate incorporation to insulate the parent company (and management in the UK) from liabilities. Expect more. BP's legal team looks to be a lot more adept than the Federal government team, which in any event is subject to undermining by elected officials that might share a poticial agenda with BP management on things like a carbon tax.

Word is that BP is looking at selling operations to raise cash. Separating the offending GOM operation could be of assistance in this endeavor.

So says, Helen Kennedy, stenographer for the White House press office, as Bill Burton and the rest of the ‘reporters’ laugh as he tells them Obama deserves his time off to play golf.

White House dismisses critics, defends Obama’s golf outings during Gulf crisis

White House spokesman Bill Burton on Monday said the president deserves some time to relax, and he doesn’t “think that there’s a person in this country that doesn’t think that their president ought to have a little time to clear his mind.”

White House reporters joke among themselves about who might get stuck with weekend pool duty, which seems more likely than not to include a few hours sitting at the food court near either Andrews Air Force Base or Fort Belvoir while Obama hits the links.

Obama went to a Washington Nationals game on Friday, and hosted a concert by Paul McCartney less than three weeks ago.

Former President George W. Bush publicly gave up the game of golf while in office, saying he didn’t think it was appropriate that he keep playing while troops were fighting in Iraq.
