I guess a PhD in biochem from Harvard really *is* overrated.

Prayers up for her and her family nonetheless...

Why didn’t the dumb skank think of that before shooting others.

why are they bothering with that old charge? I’m all for justice, but I say focus on the more recent shooting.

How ironic that the cops could better protect the safety of a mass-murderer kook than they could the lives of innocent people.

why are they bothering with that old charge?

Who are the "they" you're referring to?

I’m all for justice, but I say focus on the more recent shooting.

Firstly, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Alabama are two different jurisdictions. The AL prosecutors are focused on the crime committed in their jurisdiction and the MA prosecutors are now finally focusing on the crime that occurred in theirs.

Why should the MA prosecutors not do their job?

Second, if she is convicted of the murder of her brother, it gives her defense attorneys much less room to maneuver in AL.

Any attempts by her defense to portray her actions in AL as a one-time only psychotic episode that should be excused on the grounds of temporary insanity would run into a brick wall were she convicted of the murder she committed in MA.

In fact, all it would take to severely injure her defense would be for the MA coroner to declare the death a homicide, since her own testimony at the time shows that she admitted to killing her brother but that it was an accident.

Add in the terror bombing she attempted and her violent assault on yet another victim and the AL prosecutors' case becomes that much more airtight.

Her defense will not be able to argue exceptional circumstances because it will open the door to her entire violent past being aired in open court.

Unfortunately, she is much better at killing other people.

If this is the person I am thinking of, then her mother is complicit in the killing of the Amy’s brother. She continually claimed that it was an accident.

And going on to add that if the mother had not covered up for her daughter, Amy, then the professors would never had been killed at the staff meeting.

Since they have indicted her for murder, did they get new evidence into the shooting of her brother?

Yes, I believe she was. That, alone, shows confusion.

Everytime I hear about things like this, I think of Richard Davis, who was repeatedly saved from jail cell suicide attempts long before he raped and murdered Polly Klaas.

Agreed. Cold blooded monsters tend to continue to be cold blooded monsters. So if they do anything out of the ordinary, it's usually smart to presume you're watching a cold blooded monster... up to something.

Of course, why anyone would keep cold blooded monsters around any longer than they had to is another issue...

Nothing that was not already known to the local cops. Liberal Rep. Dellahunt, then the local D.A., broomed the police reports.
