NASA Administrator Sees Qatar-US Programmes

Nasa administrator Charles Bolden has said that Qatar and the US will work together to develop science, technology and educational programmes in the future.

Bolden spoke yesterday at the residence of US Ambassador to Qatar Joseph LeBaron, where he discussed the approach of President Barack Obama’s administration to science and technology, and reaffirmed the commitment the US president made in his Cairo speech one year ago to improving relations with the Muslim world.

The former astronaut visited Doha having been to Egypt, and during his brief stay here he met the ministers of education and environment as well as other government officials.

Although no agreements have been signed, Bolden explained that the trip was mostly about fact-finding and identifying areas in which the two countries can co-operate in the future.

“The minister of education asked us think about which areas could benefit us both in the future,” he explained, adding that he hopes to see announcements being made over the next year.

Bolden also commented on the efforts of Qatar Foundation International, describing the institution and the government’s focus on education as essential to the country’s development.

He explained that some 75 schools in Qatar currently participate in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa)’s GLOBE programme, and he expressed his hope that the Qatar government will expand this initiative throughout the country in the future.

Bolden also spoke about utilising the Nasa learning network, which would enable students in Qatar to link with lectures and events in the US, and provide opportunities to learn from Nasa’s experts.

He also paid a visit to the Doha Independent Secondary School, where he spoke to youngsters about the importance of space travel, education, science and technology and the work that Nasa is doing in terms of earth sciences.

“The reaction was incredible - the visit to the school was enlightening and uplifting,” he said.

Despite no official plans or contracts being signed, Bolden expressed his confidence that there will be deals struck in the future, and that both nations will be looking for benefit from new measures introduced by Obama.

LeBaron stated: “President Obama spoke about new beginnings, and this is a new beginning focused on science and technology and education – there are so many areas in which our countries come together.”

“I came here to re-emphasise the message from Barack Obama when he spoke in Cairo and talked about a new beginning between the US and the Muslim world,” said Bolden, adding: “He asked us to focus on new relationships with predominantly Muslim nations which is what we are trying to do here.”

Fairfax County, Va., has more people than the entire nation of Qatar. There’s more technical expertise on the Dulles Corridor. What’s the point of this?

What’s the point of this?

Everything Barry does is to hurt the United States. Some think he is incompetent but even worse he is evil and is a threat to everything we hold dear.

In November we will find out if our nation is going to survive the left wing radicals called the Democrat Party for if we call them traitors and start impeachment proceedings we can beat them.

NASA’s mission to reach out to other worlds like the moon and Mars replaced with reach out to the Muslim world.

Hey what about the Amish world????

All this while the layoffs of the people that make America’s future great are starting.
