That reminds me of when California was burning, and (Then) gov. Davis was not allowing privately owned firefighting planes to help with putting out the fires because their planes didn't pass the California safety inspections..

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard is still stopping oil eating barges to check for life vests and fire extinguishers. Time - long PAST time - to waive the rules and regs and kiss off the unions - and get the job done. Those rules and regs are for worrying about long BEFORE a catastrophe, not during.
