Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Backs Star Parker In LB-Area Congressional Run; Repub Backs Repub

(June 17, 2010) -- Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is backing Star Parker for Congress. In a dispatch on her Facebook page on June 17, the 2008 GOP VP candidate likens Ms. Parker to a "Mama Grizzly" in her run against Dem incumbent Congresswoman Laura Richardson (D., Carson-LB).

The endorsement isn't exactly a shock; Gov. Palin is a Repub and Ms. Parker is the Repub candidate...but Palin has made a point of lending her support to conservative Republicans.

"Star has an incredible story and a passionate commitment to her community and our great nation," Gov. Palin writes on her Facebook page. "Rising up from being a single mom on welfare, Star worked hard to build a non-profit network that seeks to reduce poverty and create a brighter future for America by promoting free market solutions and personal responsibility. There is no doubt that she will bring a new level of enthusiasm and energy to Washington for American values, limited government, and economic growth. She’s a dynamic leader who is committed to building a more prosperous environment for the families in her district and ushering in positive change," Palin's dispatch says.

Good.

But I was saddened that Angela McClowan didn’t win in Mississippi - 1.

Bob Dornan, way back in the old days, subbed for Rush Limbaugh.

That Star Parker, the conservative columnist from Town Hall? Wow! In a tribute to MLK I had no idea she was Black - isn't that how it is supposed to be? Well, God Bless her and God Bless Sarah Palin.

The endorsement isn’t a “shock”, but Palin does pick and choose which republican candidates to endorse. We aren’t likely to see her endorse Kirk in Illinois, for example.

I do laugh when local and state politicians endorse a candidate in their own state from their own party, as if that isn’t expected. But these national political figures can make a difference if they are judicious in their endorsements, by flowing excess national money toward local and state candidates.

Bob Dornan was PC'd out of office with the full cooperation of the House RINO's.

Long Beach? I thought Dornan had represented Orange Co., more north of LB.

I heard a lecture about welfare given by Parker several years ago. I liked her very much. Being endorsed by Palin, very interesting.

Yes, you are right. He used to represent Santa Ana (I think).... it’s the district that Loretta Sanchez now represents.

She’s the cheater — dropped her married name Brixie in a blatant racist attempt, too.

wow, another Palin endorsement, I’m so NOT impressed!!!

My belief in Palin’s “conservative leadership” credentials ended with her endorsement of the progressive RINO McCain over a true conservative like JD Hayworth.

Palin can talk the talk, but falls short of walking the walk.

Yeah, I have a feeling that she’s not going to be re-elected. Her district is becoming more heavily Asian, and I think her challenger is Thai. I would love to see her lose her election. :)
