SALT LAKE CITY The University of Utah accepted an invitation to become the 12th member of the newly expanded Pac-10 Conference on Thursday.
"Today is an absolutely great day to be a Ute," athletic director Chris Hill said before he was interrupted by applause during a news conference at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

If MLB can have six teams in one division, four in another and five in the remainder I guess anything goes.

Ute? Did Joe Pesci name the team?

Don’t worry; Texas, OU, Tech and OSU will join in a few years.

Wow. PAC-12 added the 32nd biggest TV market, and a market with no regional impact.

I think it’s 12 for this year in light of Texas’ decision to stay put.

Sort of like the old Monty Python skit about the tiny Catholic school trying to put on a production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, despite being short on numbers. “Do you two boys take these four girls to be your seven brides?”

32nd biggest TV market,Hard to say...Somewhat, (only somewhat) like Notre Dame and Catholics, there are a lot of Mormons that follow Utah even though they don't live in the SLC area.
And the market is still bigger than Pullman, WA. ~snicker.

Is that when he is saying, “What is a Ute?”
To: ConservativeStatement
Keep an eye on them. Utes have a talent pipeline from the Pacific Islands, and a long bowl winning streak.

Not the exact scene. The reaction by the judge was more inquisitive than demonstrative.

I wonder if the mathematical probabilities are lessened if a team plays in a six-team division compared to that of a four-team division. Perhaps it is balanced because of the wild card possibility. But then again, to an untrained eye it seems that if you have five opponents vying for a division crown, the chances of winning are smaller than three division rivals. Ultimately, it comes down to winning and losing but then again.

My office here at the U overlooks the football stadium, so I got to see all the traffic going in and out today! Good day to be a Utah fan!

there are a lot of Mormons that follow Utah even though they don't live in the SLC area. Except that most of them are BYU fans and could care less about U of U.
