Climate-energy bill cost for consumers: up to $146 a year (BS! It will be 10 times as much!)

A stalled climate-energy bill in the Senate got a boost Tuesday from federal regulators who reported it would not be too costly, then from President Obama.

"The transition to clean energy has the potential to grow our economy and create millions of jobs – but only if we accelerate that transition," Mr. Obama said in his Oval Office speech. He touted a "strong and comprehensive energy and climate bill – a bill that finally makes clean energy the profitable kind of energy for America's businesses."

That's been the billion-dollar question surrounding climate legislation: How much will it cost?

The Environmental Protection Agency answered that question earlier Tuesday in a much-anticipated economic analysis. The climate-energy legislation that’s sponsored by Sens. John Kerry (D) of Massachusetts and Joseph Lieberman (I) of Connecticut would have a "relatively modest [economic] impact" on the US public, the EPA's models showed.

The bill, which includes a market-based "cap and trade" mechanism to put a price on carbon emissions from US smokestack emitters, would hike energy costs for both businesses and consumers. But with rebates for consumers in the plan, as well as other factors, the overall cost to American households would be $79 to $146 annually, the EPA found

So, these 'rebates' are just funded out of thin air? Money found at the end of a rainbow?

Forced to buy crappy lightbulbs will cost $146 per year alone....

A couple weeks ago we went into the Capitol Visitor Center here in WDC. The “government” originally said this underground security entrance to the Capitol would take about $100,000,000.00 to build. I believe they spent about $800,000,000.00 on the monstrosity. Yeah, I believe the “government” can estimate costs accurately. NOT!

It all points back to CCX. It’s an extortion racket. Everybody involved should be shot, in prison, in prison and shot, or shot and in prison.

How much does Barack Oil plan on making on the Enron style trading scheme that landed Enron executives in jail?

Its exactly what it is.

Here in Michigan the legislature is forcing continuous production cuts from from electricity and gas producers. The producers aren’t complaining because that cuts overhead while driving consummer costs up based on demand. In turn they have carbon credits to trade for cash.

While production is being cut, clean coal fired plants are being denied permits based on the lack of demand that the legislature has created. At the same time they’re denying clean coal permits, they’re approving wind farms despit the “lack of demand”.

You can pretty much figure that out by looking at how desperate they are to get the cap and trade legislation passed.

We all need to call our senators on this bill and start voicing our opposition.

No CO2 regulation.
Set my CO2 Free
Petition Congress to declare CO2 a non pollutant.

I wish it was just incompetence. They know damned well when they underestimate costs by hundreds of percent.

I bet the cost is 500 times as much as every product in every store will go up (prices) and many will lose their jobs. the costs in the unintended or intended Marxist consequences will be the worst part of the deal.

Yeah...it was supposed to be a “security” entrance. It morphed into a granite-lined, office & auditorium laden boondoggle. Congress...house of the people? No longer. You cannot enter the building without a tour guide now. And then you are restricted to two rooms.

On Fox today, they said that the Dems may try to pass this after the November election and before January, similar to health care bill vote.
