Defense Secretary Robert Gates will recommend that Gen. James Amos become the next commandant of the Marine Corps, according to a report in Tuesday's Washington Post. The newspaper quoted an anonymous military source saying that Gates passed over former Camp Pendleton Gen. James Mattis as well as Lt. Gen. Joseph Dunford, head of the base's I Marine Expeditionary Force. The newspaper said that Gates would submit the Amos nomination to President Barack Obama in a few days, and that he also will recommend that Dunford be elevated to assistant commandant. Amos, currently assistant commandant, would be the first commandant to come from the ranks of Marine Corps aviators.

Anybody got any inside skinny on General Amos?
Is he another pantload like Mullen? Will he feminize the Marines with “co-ed” boot camp, support repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell”, and pursue other Clinton-style, liberal, America-hating policies designed to weaken the military?
Is he a perfumed prince of the Pentagon, and a selfish political hack?
I’d like to give this Marine the benefit of the doubt, but since his nomination is coming from the scumbag Ubama administration, I just can’t do that.
Mullens got off to a strong start as CNO. He fired Sestak within 24 hours of taking the job.
There are rumors that Gen. Amos has been chosen by Defense Secretary Gates solely because of his position on DADT, and I certainly hope that isnt the case. The Marine Corps needs a commandant chosen for his military leadership, not for where he stands on political issues. If and thats a big IF this is true, then shame on Secretary Gates.
God help America if these "rumors" are true.
I can understand that.
Here is who likes Mabus, which is about as close as we'll get to a clue in Wiki:
Awards, honors, community service
Mabus has been awarded the U.S. Department of Defense Distinguished Public Service Award, the U.S. Army’s Distinguished Civilian Service Award, the Martin Luther King Social Responsibility Award from the King Center in Atlanta, the National Wildlife Federation Conservation Achievement Award, the King Abdul Aziz Award from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Mississippi Association of Educators’ Friend of Education Award.
He is active in many community activities, primarily focusing on education. Following Hurricane Katrina, he founded the Help and Hope Foundation, which works to meet the needs of children affected by the storm.
He is a member of the RAND Center for Middle East Public Policy[26] and the Council on Foreign Relations,[27] and is the Distinguished Lecturer on the Middle East at the University of Mississippi.
As a photographer, his photographs have raised tens of thousands of dollars for various Mississippi charities.
He has appeared on many television programs as an expert on the Middle East, including “60 Minutes” and “Nightline.”
[Emphasis supplied]
He's a CFR internationaloid, NWO type and a Bozo-booster and NEA-kisser. That's about all you can say about him.
Gadzooks! Photo shows Amos with 7 rows of fruit salad... that doesn't seem to have any combat awards as his single Bronze Star is lacking a V--
But what do I know? Both... my medals were for pirating a keg of beer from a SMU frat house!
Well at least he is a Red Devil VMFA-232. I Did not serve with him.
I know Amos-—he’s a damned good man, just like his boss General Conway. Behind the scenes, they’re the only ones standing up to Gates on the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” repeal.
They were an outstanding USMC command team, and largely responsible for taking Saddam down by fighting their way up the Tigris and Euphrates valleys and storming into East Baghdad.
Mattis got passed over because he's too much like George S. Patton---he likes to fight and is non-politically correct.
When were you at K-Bay??
Thanks for your post - - very encouraging!
That’s one odd post there, Bunky.
bttt
How so?
The cited blog didn't have a convincing case that Gen. Amos is pro-homoecstatic, to coin a word. She was just repeating a rumor or speculation. So I looked at Mabus's c.v. for any indications of a rainbowy political background, since it was supposedly Mabus who put Amos up for CMC in the first place. Evidence not found. Yet.
Ganz klar jetzt?
Sheesh.. I missed that. Can you direct me to a source so I can read more?
Thanks.
I'm glad to hear that. Like they always said, the Marines are looking for a few good men, including general officers who will stand up to Girlyman and tell him how it is.
