President Obama's speech on the gulf oil disaster Tuesday night was written at a 10th-grade level, which, according to analysts, may have gone over the heads of many in his audience...
Tuesday night's speech from the Oval Office of the White House was written to a 9.8 grade level, said Paul J.J. Payack, president of Global Language Monitor. The Austin, Texas-based company analyzes and catalogues trends in word usage and word choice and their impact on culture.
Though the president used slightly less than four sentences per paragraph, his 19.8 words per sentence "added some difficulty for his target audience," Payack said.
He singled out this sentence from Obama as unfortunate: "That is why just after the rig sank, I assembled a team of our nation's best scientists and engineers to tackle this challenge -- a team led by Dr. Steven Chu, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and our nation's secretary of energy."

Oh, give me a break! The only thing he’s professional at is prevarication.
He is dumber than a box of hammers.

This is not true but even if it were, the implications would be clear. The admin has highly paid speechwriters and managers whose only job is to access the audience and deliver the goods. I am a professor of 33 years duration who teaches at all levels (undergrad, graduate, medical professional degree and general public lectures). I have to access different audiences daily and adjust daily. The best “message” undelivered is just another way to say... FAIL, i.e., Robert Green-type “surehanded goaltending”.

From the speech:
Already, this oil spill is the worst environmental disaster America has ever faced.
The sentence Grades out at a 6th grade level....lol

At any one moment there are hundreds of made-up statistics floating around in the media, and fully 37 percent of them have to do with language.......
And there’s no shortage of hucksters ready to satisfy that need. Take one Paul J. J. Payack, a California marketing executive who runs an outfit called the Global Language Monitor, and who has a gift for concocting appealing factoids about language trends
"The buck stops over there"
OR
His audience that was sold the bill of goods?
Man, I be trying to kick ass but I caint fine mah own, you know I mean. (There, that will do it.)
Actually I checked that yesterday after the speech- I had to go to the kindergarten level to find believers."
Right you are, I was being too generous!
I actually had someone tell me yesterday that it was okay for the schools to teach from a liberal slant, that it “forces students to think for themselves”...then went on to say that “liberals were the well educated”. Sounds like he attended a public school and drank the kool-aid.
Yeah, the Progs are smart like a conman is smarter than his marks (/snix).
Well, I’m designation an unnamed player to be determined later.
We’ll see... ;^)
You must live in my neck of the woods. I can almost see it too.
Too much for the LITTLE PEOPLE .....
So it was because of the style and not the substance (or lack thereof)? Typical leftist hogwash.
