A civilian pretending to be a soldier convinced an Army officer to give him a sophisticated laser sight for military rifles . . .

I'm guessing this will not be good for the officer's career!

I’m thinking this might be reflected on his OER/ —in a negative way. But with the current PC craze in the Army, maybe not. Retired Army

...that part sounds pretty shaky...why would an officer have it in the first place, and why would anyone just hand it over...?
