JOHANNESBURG – Two Dutch women were released on bail Wednesday after facing charges they took part in an ambush marketing campaign at a World Cup match.

The women were among a group of more than 30 Dutch women who attended Monday's Netherlands-Denmark game at Soccer City wearing orange minidresses paid for by brewing company Bavaria. They said they were ordered from the stadium by FIFA officials.

The women are being prosecuted under the Contravention of Merchandise Marks Act which covers ambush marketing, when a company benefits from an event without paying for advertising.

Orange dresses are "advertsing" for a specific company?

And why were only 2 of the 30 arrested?

Must have been the ugly ones (if you’ve seen the pictures they should be celebrated not arrested!)

You didn't see the photos, apparently.

Maybe the other 28 were blowing vuvu-whatevers.

I see no name or logo... no matter how much I look at the dresses.

FIFA is really inept: keeping the vuvuzelas, but tossing hot girls in matching outfits.

I need to interrogate these women immediately. In a dimly lit room. With wine and some Barry White playing on the stereo.

"Contravention of Merchandise Marks Act"

It sounds like something straight from Atlas Shrugged, or the Onion.

I have been transported to a parallel universe where the beacons of freedom in the world are now leading the charge against freedom itself.

To be fair, SA has hardly been a beacon of freedom.

Barry White?? Yes, playing Grandpa’s music will work wonders on them! Methinks you need a new game plan.

What's ironic is that the Bavaria Brewing company is gonna get way more publicity out of this than had they let those babes just sit in the stands.
That's smart marketing.

You’re right. Maybe I should try some Five Finger Death Punch. They’d relate to that.
