“he did say that the funds would be controlled by a third party....”

That Third Party “trust fund” really sends shivers up my spine. Just how honest a third party are we talking here? Who will be watching where that money goes? How much of it will go to the Unions he’s giving clean-up jobs too, and how much of that will be returned to the Democrats in campaign donations?

i agree....if he can’t legally make bp create this fund they should tell him to pound sand for these very reasons....

Some of us remember when there were still a few dollars in that Social Security Trust Fund.

That was a long, long, long time ago, however.

If the Funds and fines went into a Trust Fund administered by the governors of the gulf states and affected states, it might be viable. [Although, I recall that tobacco settlement that got pilfered by the states.]

When hurricane and tropical storms move into the gulf region, they are going to be blowing oily rains northward into states that do not border on the gulf. Those states are going to be demanding clean-up compensation, too.

This disaster could get to be even worse, if a couple of hurricanes enter the gulf anytime soon.
