Could the Horizon Leak Be Much, Much Worse? Is That Why Foreign Help Has Been Turned Away?

Could the reason for the 'hide behind the Jones Act' strategy of Duh Won be not one of Union appeasement (hardline adherence to the the Jones Act--waived by GWB in Katrina) or not even Greenie homage...could it be that the lack of media access, the stoppage of all flyovers, be due to the Horizon Deep Water leak being much, much more profound than originally reported?

The Boyz at HillBuzz pose the question, via an article posted by The Oil Drum (link to TOD also attached).

“but they could just refill our strategic reserves or perhaps pump the oil to safer old reservoirs on land.”

Great Point,,,!

I don’t know how much room is left in the SPR now,,,

IIRC There is another “dome” that has not been used,,,

Once the crude gets to Port Fourchon it can be piped to

every refinery in the south,,,

Cushing,Ok. could be put back on line to deliver product

to the Northeast to name one...

There is a FR thread on this...but I also just saw this over on Drugdge.

AlGore is weighing in on the ‘de facto’ censorship in the FEDS NOT letting media to Gulf:

There is a big crack in the Obot love fest...almost as deep as the Horizon if ManBearPig is piling on. This is stunning, as they (the left and Dem operatives) are turning on Barky. Quickly.

First it was leaking 1,000 barrels a day, then 5,000 then 12,000 and now the estimate is 25,000-40,000 barrels aday. How much worse can it get? It already damn close to the worst case of 100,000 barrels a day.

Were I Obama, I would have been on the phone with Exxon and Shell when the estimate when from 1K to 5K asking for thier best engineeers to be flow in immedately. But Obama had a fund raisers to go to and golf games to play.

I don’t suppose they explain how it is possible that the total reserves can bleed out throi8hg one leaking area. Theya re essentially suggesting that every barrel of oil that exists in the Gulf of Mexico will bleed out. How is that possible ? There needs to be enough pressure from natural gas to continue forcing the oil out. Even now there are many underwater oil wells in operation for decades and have nto come close to extracting all the possible oil. It seems absurd that there would be enough pressure to drain out even the Macondo field the well is on, and esp off the wall that all the GoM reserves could drain out.
