Sen. Kerry comes out against too quiet cars

Yeah, there are lots of silent bicycles out there riding around. Can blind people hear them? They will certainly be injured if they walk out in front of one.

Well, Kerry's heavy breathing probably helps the blind to be aware of the danger.

Kerry pointed to a study that he said found hybrid electric vehicles were twice as likely to be involved in an accident with a pedestrian or a cyclist during very low-speed maneuvers.

Perhaps if pedestrians and cyclist were required to make loud noises, then the Prius wouldn't hit them. Or maybe if they obeyed traffic laws it would help also. You know, such things as stopping at stop signs would help prevent accidents.

When our overlords require electric cars with sound, I want mine to sound like an old steam locomotive while cruising, but a top fuel dragster when accelerating.
