In a bombshell development that could bring a halt to seismic changes in college realignment, sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas is at the table with the 10 remaining Big 12 schools working on a TV deal put forth by commissioner Dan Beebe that would hold the conference together.
Rumor is UT doesn’t want TCU in the Big 12.
Have you heard of Nebraska? SMU, even with June Jones, is not a replacement for Nebraska. They aren’t even a replacement for Colorado. They do not have a significant fan base, and Texas, OU, and A&M already have the Dallas media market.
Fantastic!!!
To the PAC 10 trying to salvage itself.
Hell No, We Won’t Go!
Hell No, We Won’t Go!
Hell No, We Won’t Go!
Boise State jumped the gun then. Too bad for them. Thanks for the update!
I like that idea, but Utah is going to be courted by the Pac10 if the schools in the Big12 try to save the conference. And with the tv deal the Pac10 is putting together, I suspect Utah will go there.
Baylor should have never been brought into the Big 12.
And SMU will always be tarnished by their Death Penalty..
The Big 12 would take UNT before SMU.
LOL- they are not going to get anyone to replace Nebraska...
not a replacement for Colorado??? you mean the program that’s barely won a dozen games the past three seasons?? that’s hysterical....
June Jones would out coach Dan Hawkins even if he spoke chinese to his players....
This explains why Gene Stallings, in our morning paper, says that he wants to save the Big 12 league, if it can be saved. Barring that, he’s all for the SEC.
Lol, I wouldn't doubt it, the way some of the college officials are thinking these days. I'm in the SEC and just think there's been enough merging among the major sports schools. There's a lot to be said for an alignment that, more or less, produces regional champions who can compete for the national championship. - If some of these big names want to play every year and get the big TV payoff, they can just schedule each other in the regular season year-after-year.
The money and divorce from the arrogant hippies at UC Austin will make the beatings at the hands of the SEC so much easier to take.
Colorado has the Denver media market, which is not going to the Pac10. This about more than coaching and records.
If more schools don’t join the conference, the Big 12 will have 10 teams, while, of course, the Big 10 will have 12 teams. How could that be confusing to anyone?
Lol. At least you’re honest.
Here’s hoping, but this contradicts ESPN’s reporting. Let’s hope this one is right.
Wholeheartedly agree, and I wish they would. We have a reservation with the SEC. "Goodbye to Texas University, so long to the orange & white..."
That should say “now going” not “not going.”
The University of Houston would probably jump at the opportunity. They were passed over in favor of Baylor when the SWC split up, and got stuck in Conference USA a few years back.
SnakeDoc
According reports the SEC wants A&M in conjunction with Texas and OU. Unless A&M can convince OU to come along to the SEC, then I don’t see the SEC expanding at all. A&M would also have no natural rival in the SEC.
Goodbye to Texas University indeed! Gig ‘em! Old Army fight! Beat the hell outta LSU!
