Interesting thoughts, but I think Obama is just inept. Though he is never to let a crisis go without trying to gain from it, once the episode was over he was happy to use it as a stick to beat Israel. But before hand, he just did nothing. Nobody in the State Department did anything.
You make a good case, how could they state dept do nothing? Surely they should have tried to stop it, spoke against it, etc. If they did nothing they are inept. If they knew it and let it happen, well that is one step closer to collusion. Who will ever know?
I don’t think Obama and his buddies are inept at all. I think it’s policy being enacted by doing nothing, since they realize that any affirmative steps to overtly support Hamas and the jihadis in this would generate opposition here in the US and would probably affect Jewish Democrat big donors. So the way to handle it is simply to let it happen and say “aw shucks, how could we have known?”
Obama is ruthless and he is, if not a practicing Muslim, Muslim-identified, because he sees Islam as the force that hates the US more than any other and is the most capable of destroying it. And he wants to be on their side, but he’s doesn’t quite dare to be too obvious about it yet. (Although frankly, after Brennan’s statements, I don’t know how the Bambi regime can claim to be on any other side than that of Islam.)
