FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

A LARGE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 975 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS IS PRODUCING WIDESPREAD CLOUDINESS ALONG WITH SOME SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THIS DISTURBANCE CONTINUES TO BE WELL-ORGANIZED AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN CONDUCIVE FOR ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD OR NORTHWESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THERE IS A HIGH CHANCE...60 PERCENT...OF THIS SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

Hurricanes are nature's cleanser and if a hurricane were to hit the Caribbean and coastal area where the oil has reached, I believe when it is passed you will find no evidence the oil already leaked ever existed.Now the new oil leaked after the hurricane will still remain a problem.

If a Hurricane entered the Gulf Oil Spill area, I would imagine all boats would have to move away from the high winds. IE - Stop oil collection.

Yep for long term recovery of the area and short term major clean up several canes might really be the best thing.
