Carly Fiorina: California Senate Race is about jobs, not hairstyles

Former Hewlett-Packard executive Carly Fiorina, who won the California GOP Senate primary Tuesday, said Sunday she regretted her off-the-cuff remarks about the hairstyle worn by her opponent, Sen. Barbara Boxer.
"I regret this whole situation. I gave people the opportunity to talk about something petty and superficial," she told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday." "This is a very serious election year about serious issues."
The Republican candidate didn't apologize for the remark, captured off the air during a television interview and posted on YouTube, in which she disparaged her opponents hairstyle as outdated.
Mrs. Fiorina said the contest with Mrs. Boxer, California Democrat, will be decided on the issue of jobs.
Asked whether she intended to soften for the general election the conservative positions that she rode to the Republican primary win, Mrs. Fiorina stood firm, restating her pro-life views and her support for Arizona's tough immigration law.
She defended her record at H-P, including her role in the California-based firm's outsourcing of 30,000 jobs.

She is right. The pundits and her opponents want to talk about the hair remark but the issues should be front and center. I’m Surprised Chris spend that much time on the hair remark with other more important issues to discuss.

Yeah Carly(D), that’s what we said prior to the primary.
Sorry so many people missed it, or ignored us.

They’re afraid of a conservative “Mama Grizzly” Republican that has an actual chance of upsetting “Please call me Senator” Babs Boxer.

What’s under Fiorina’s hair can run circles around what’s under Boxer’s hair.. NOTHING. I know this isn’t important, but Fiorina’s coherency and speaking skills are the best I’ve ever seen in any politician. Actually, she’s kinda sexy because of it, too. Really though, she’s super sharp and California should try that for a change.

I agree. Very forthright speaker. A rarity these days.

Christ brought it up first thing and got it out of the way. I’m glad he did, she gave a good response and it was over.
I watched the interview, and , even though she was not my choice to win the Primary (Chuck was my choice), she came across pretty doggone well I thought.
I think she can beat Babs.

This is the tyranny of the MSM (and even Fox). They like the stories that titillate. This story is beyond idiotic.
Women (and men) are forever making comments about other women's appearances. It's either about their hairstyles, makeup, dress, weight, overall appearance. All of us have heard this time and time again. I think this probably started thousands of years ago. When I saw Boxer's hairstyle (hideous) even I recoiled. And I don't make a big deal about appearances. Everyone probably noticed it. But Carly has got to learn how the media operates and the times we are now in. The slightest gaff will bring in the self-rightous media (read liberal) who are going to do everything in their power to favor Boxer.

Actually, shes kinda sexy because of it, too. ______________________________________________________________ Uh......well.....the adjective, "sexy", never came to my mind. I'm assuming, historyrepeatz, that you are not a "young" guy. (But then, neither am I. Just messin' with ya.)

O.K., Freepers; you heard it first from me: I betcha that Babs Boxer will find a way to incorporate the "...so yesterday" remark into one of the debates. She'll get a lot of laughs, that will be the most memorable line of the debate and her poll numbers will jump 5 percentage points.
Whatcha think? Am I right or wrong?

Fiorina for Senate 2010. Because there’s nobody quite like a breast-cancer survivor to know when it’s time to cut a boob off.

You know when a democrat is running scared...they switch to superficialities...hair styles, grammar, spelling, clothes, etc.
When someone has them dead-to-right on the issues, they clammor for a subject change.
That's one of the reasons Palin catches so much "personal" flak...subject change.
Let's make the bastards talk about what WE want to talk about for a change.

I'm gonna disagree with you just a little bit. Yes Carly has good communication skills and she's a lot smarter than Boxer. But then again that isn't hard and every candidate who has run against Boxer is smarter than her. Bruce Hershensohn absolutely destroyed her in debates during her first run at the Senate. So will it matter? What will it take to get the average California Troglodyte Voter to push the R-Button this November? Remember there are over 1 million more registered Democrats in CA than Republicans. So no matter how much Carly shows up Boxer, it's still gonna be a tough battle.
This is why I supported Campbell, because he appealed to Moderates and a lot of Democrats. Yes, I've been slammed here on FR for making this point. It isn't that I prefer Campbell to DeVore or Fiorina, it's that I thought he has the best chance against the horrible Boxer. We need to get the votes of some Democrats (those who aren't completely crazy) and a big majority of moderates to win this November. I hope Fiorina is up to it. She will probably have to move a bit left but I hope those here on FR and others don't get to upset about it.

I voted for DeVore, but now we have to support Fiorina. I am a bit worried that she’s a closet RINO (as Schwarzenegger proved to be), but that might be necessary for her to win. You have to remember that a Republican in California would be considered a Democrat/Progressive in any other state. It sucks but that’s California.
To: truthguy
Fiorina would kick Obama’s azz in a public speaking class, THAT’S how good she is. I really enjoy listening to her. It’s almost a sexual thing. LOL

Hair style? I thought Boxer wore wigs!

Well, there are FReepers here who have told me that they're not going to vote for Fiorina in any case, in the general election -- thus, by them doing so ... they'll be helping Boxer ... hoo-boy! What a deal!

This is the same woman that backpedaled on Hannity the other night when she was “on mike” discussing Meg Whitman going on Hannity’s show. Said Hannity is a “tough interviewer”. That is about ridiculous.
I am beginning to think she cannot keep her mouth shut at the right time.
