Democrats Have Secret Plan for November
Newsmax ^ | June 13th, 2010

Political analysts are predicting a huge win for Republicans in November's congressional elections, but some Democrats believe they have a secret plan to stave off a crushing Republican landslide.

That’s the analysis from Newsweek magazine’s Andrew Romano, who writes that “the Democrats in charge are actually rather confident about getting their fellow Dems elected this year. The reason? They have a plan — a plan that they believe will produce much better results on Election Day than anyone expects.”

The first element of that plan is the return of Obama’s former campaign manager David Plouffe, who left politics after Obama’s election win. At the president’s request, he is now communicating on a regular basis with the Democratic National Committee on campaign strategy.

Plouffe’s top priority is to get many of the 15 million people who voted for the first time in 2008, and largely supported Obama, back to the polls this year. His main weapon is the 13-million-name e-mail list from the Obama campaign now available to the DNC.

The focus on individual elections for Democrats will be “keep it local,” according to Romano. “While Republicans hammer away at national themes targeted at right-wing activists, Democrats plan to focus on bread-and-butter regional concerns like jobs.”

Democrats also believe that the emergence of tea party challengers in GOP primaries will help their candidates attract moderate voters. A tea party candidate who wins the primary will drive moderates toward the Democrat in the general election, the thinking goes, and a tea partyer who loses will likely have forced the winning Republican to move further to the right and possibly alienate moderate voters.

"A tea party candidate who wins the primary will drive moderates toward the Democrat in the general election, the thinking goes."

Who exactly are these "moderates"? If you equate "moderate" with "Independent" - which admittedly is a bit of a stretch - you'll find that the Rasmussen Generic Congressional ballot has the GOP running better than 2 to 1 vs. the 'Rats among Independents.

I would imagine that most of these "moderates" have had it up to here with 'Rats who fancy themselves as "moderate" and vote the Reid-Pelosi line in Congress.

Amen. The congressional 'Rat party today is perhaps as monolithic and extremist ideologically today as any major congressional party has ever been.

Newsweek reporter Andrew Romano, a specialist in the youth vote (because he's Princeton '04), attempts to describe how he found the under-30 generation adores the marital bliss of the Obamas in this week's magazine. The article is headlined "Our Model Marriage: The Obamas have the kind of relationship millennials aspire to." Romano described how his contemporaries were much wilder in their enthusiasm for the Obamas than they were for rapper Kanye West, and how they have become for young voters "the swooniest couple around."

Newsweek’s Andrew Romano Says Bachmann “Not Democratic Enough for Twitter”

Romano wrote about how Bachmann canceled his interview:

I’ve yet to meet a legislator who’s so burdened by the demands of a normal workweek that he or she is forced to renege on a 20-minute interview with a national magazine at the last minute. Politicians tend to find time for publicity—especially Bachmann, who by one estimate appears on national cable every nine days. My guess is that her staff read my tweets and decided that it wasn’t in Bachmann’s best interest to talk to me. And that says as much about Bachmann as anything I observed on the road.

Without the interview, my editors killed the print piece. Which is fine with me. For my next Twitter project, I’d prefer to profile someone who doesn’t prescreen her town-hall questions or try to prevent me from attending all but the most scripted of events. In other words, someone who’s comfortable with the new medium, not suspicious of it.

If the Dems hold onto both Houses, I will WASH MY HANDS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!

I hear ya! The middle can be easily swayed by the Driveby propaganda. However, a part of me actually would like to see the dems retain control in November. Then the country can realise once and for all that democrat policies crush the American dream. I am so tired of the left campaigning on the economy and jobs and a majority of dumbasses believing it!

A couple of months before the elections Obama will start appearing in a pink sombrero with a big peace sign on it, with purple hair, wearing a Mow suit, with a jay in his pocket, with a girlfriend by his side and an “ ALAH IS GREAT” flag in the back ground. The Morons will love him and vote democrat.
