What is the most spectacularly mis-named far left activist group in America? Hands down winner is Free Press, the organizational vehicle for the Neo-Marxist American college professor who cheered Hugo Chavez when the Venzuelan thug strangled the free press in that suffering nation.
Robert McChesney founded Free Press eight years ago and has been in the forefront of a proliferating movement on the far left to do to the U.S. media what Chavez and other left-wing dictators always do, which is take over the news media and convert it to propaganda outlets for their dictatorial regimes.
If you doubt me, check out these quotes from McChesney culled by The Daily Caller's Mike Riggs:
Only government can implement policies and subsidies to provide an institutional framework for quality journalism.
The news is not a commercial product. It is a public good, necessary for a self-governing society. Once we accept this, we can talk about the kind of media policies and subsidies we want.
In the end, there is no real answer but to remove brick-by-brick the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles.
Nobody can seriously believe that a guy who thinks like that will have an iota of respect for the First Amendment and this country's cherished freedom of the press.
I've been reporting and writing for several weeks about the FTC's "Reinventing Journalism" campaign, which is the Obama administration's initiative for nationalizing the news media, much as was done to General Motors and Chrysler were. As I reported last week, and continued this week, a "draft discussion"paper allegedly prepared by FTC staff is the current focus of the effort.

Leftists always choose labels that completely misconstrue what the bill/organization is really about.
Card Check=no secret ballot.
Jobs Bill=More extravagant and irresponsable spending. Healthcare Reform Act=Government takeover of 1/6 of our economy.
Deconstruct their rhetoric and get the truth out to the people. The Left will be completely rejected if we get our message out.
I had a marketing professor who always said "advertise your weakest point". If you're selling a soft drink that tastes like camel urine you would say "Tastes Great" as your main slogan.
The dems/socialists understand this principal very well.
Even the Soviets knew this... hence the name "Pravda" (truth) for the name of their newspaper.
Agree. I’ve decided to refer to Big Media as ‘Pravda USA’ and to Zero as our DIC (Disaster-in-Chief or Dictator-in-Chief). That’s the truth!
The pinko commie loves to use words such as “Free Press”
“democratic state” and “ the most transparent administration” . It is such disinformation tactics based pon concealing a lie and reinforcing thought control.
Zer0 is a practicing liar. All of his records are sealed
his past is never questioned.
This twerp is not a champion of our constitution.
He is transparent, cannot believe anything from his lips.
It’s called Free Press so it can enslave us
Orwell
You just called our Pres a Dick ?
And they want the fcc (government) to decide what is quality journalism... so we, the lame public, can then have "proper" and "fair" information to judge them (the government).
Is it just me, or is this the dumbest and most ill thought out statement on the subject so far? Really, they want to control the information that we use to grade them... it's like letting 5th graders fill out their own damn report cards. Geez... they had to know this would go over like a lead freekin zepplin.
Anyway... I think the whole thing would lead right back to the core of the current white house administration if we knew the truth. These balloons are always launched from a spot like this where there are a few "expendable" heads just in case. Just me speculating or course, but I'd bet money that I'm right.

And ‘re-inventing journalism’ to give tax breaks to failing Liberal news outlets that report the news ‘accurately’.......NYT, ABC, CBS, NBC, WashPo, etc.
