Sacramento, CA (LifeNews.com) -- The first poll coming out of California following Tuesday's primary election, where pro-life candidate Carly Fiorina is taking on stalwart abortion activist Sen. Barbara Boxer, shows Fiorina trailing by five percent. The race will likely become one of the marquee battles for the pro-life movement in 2010.
The new Rasmussen Reports poll shows both Boxer and Fiorina received small bumps in their numbers after he Tuesday election.
Now, its survey of likely voters has Boxer picking up 48% support over Fiorinas 43% and another 5 percent support another candidate while five percent are undecided.
Support for both nominees is at its highest level so far this year as the last poll conducted before the primary election had Boxer with a 45 to 38 percent lead over Fiorina.
"Before the Republican Primary, Fiorina was running worse than primary opponent Tom Campbell, a former congressman. But Fiorina came up strong on Tuesday, picking up 56% of the vote over Campbells 22%," Rasmussen notes.
Boxer, who is seeking a fourth six-year term, has yet to reach the 50% level of support in the general election -- a critical mark for incumbents

They don’t have the messiah at the top of the ticket either. That has to be worth 5-6 points against the dems.
I wonder how many voted for Fiorina because they thought she was punk.
LOL. That would have been my strategy if I were a rat.
Boxer is on record that she thinks that babies aren’t entitle to have their lives protected until the family takes them home from the hospital.
You ask your average “pro-choicer” if that’s what they want to support, and they’ll say no, but they’ll support her anyway.
Just put a stake in the heart of kalifornicate.
LLS
I’d rather not install yet another abortion voting RINO. If she refuses to fully defend our fundamental God-given unalienable right to life, then she can’t be trusted to defend any of our other rights.
Not one of the three people running as Republicans would beat Boxer. It has nothing to do with their conservatism or lackthereof, it has to do with the fact that the state in question is Kalifornia and they ALL have “R” following their names.

A couple years ago I would have agreed with what you say. Its why I argued that Arnold should win the GOP nomination for governor. Today I seriously wonder whether it would have been better to let the Dems have the office. Crist is another good example of what would have been a disaster if he won the GOP nomination. There has to be a balancing act between purity and electability.
Having said that, while I’d like to belive otherwise, I suspect this is as close as Carly is going to get to Boxer. California’s electorate is still living in fantasyland.
There’s a lot of time before November. Anything can happen.
No, he would be polling about the same now as Fiorina. Afterall, he was actually polling as well or better against babs throughout the primary. The difference is there is nothing the dems could do to attack DeVore that would be useful. Carly is as target rich environment as they come.
I wonder how many democrats crossed over and voted for Carly ?
“Anti-Babs commercials should be such fun.
Nationalize the issues to have all eyes on CA...remind that as it goes, so goes the nation.”
...Yes!...Demon Sheep with bad hair...make that SHORT Demon Sheep with bad hair
Not true. Both polled about the same. 3-6 points behind Babs.
She’ll get my vote— I want Boxer at virtually any price.
Boxer OUT at any price.
Well, I won’t be selling my soul to get her out.
That’s cool. I am not guided by the same principles as you.
