” The Palinista brigade is an attack machine. I can’t count the numer of times a well meaning FReeper has come onto a Palin thread to express the minimum of doubts about Palin and was savagely and brutally attacked. So don’t talk to me about the origins or severity of personal attscks. “

Folks, we have a

WINNER!!

This guy is unsupportable. Supporting a man of this caliber just screams danger concerning anyone who could.

BTW, that's how I feel about Huckabee (and there are quite a few freepers who feel this way too).

No, I think the people in the end might still pull Hayworth through, but Palin and her daily ads praising McCain have done a lot of damage.

Again, what is JD doing to combat them? I’m not in AZ so I honestly have no true idea of what each camp is doing (other than info on FR).

Compared to McCain, Huckabee is merely a court jester. A fool.

Huckabee is a nobody.

>>it can’t happen until Jerusalem is smoldering ruin and the remaining Jews convert to Christianity>>

Sarah Palin does not believe in that agenda nor do Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Presbyterians,
and millions of others.

For someone who blows off religion in the first place, get your facts streight.

What can he do? Palins ads alone must have cost 2 million. Her ads have also probably hurt funding for Hayworth.

If Hayworth can somehow get McCain to debate him, that might turn the corner.

You do know that sounds defeatist, right? And last I saw, McCain did agree to debate after originally saying no.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t think you even know how you look to the rest of FR.”

Why should anyone care about how they look to the rest of the denizens on this website? What was once a shining jewel in the hopes of conservative activism has become a sanctuary for the right wing fringe, third partiers, those whose only desire is to sit and groove on the rubble, malcontents and the perennially aggrieved who have no plan on how to become unaggrieved.

And to answer the next obvious question, why do I still come here?

FR is like my crazy aunt in the attic. I still have hopes (no matter the odds) that one day she will become sane.

Call me the optimist.

Wow. This reads like Andrew Sullivan. You know, if Excitable Andy gave up what residual sense of fairness he had left.

Incidentally, Newsweek has this as by Lisa Miller. Just so we’re clear on who’s wielding the poison cursor here.

JD has not helped himself having a Storm Fronter backing him
who gets into trouble for knocking around wives throwing furniture and not allowed to see his children.
And this was the guy who was orignially running against McCain.

I have a few images in my head: one of Bugs Bunny playing a jester, and the song ‘American Pie’. No, I haven’t smoked today.

I’ll give you credit for being more frank than anyone I have run into that supports Sarah. It’s refreshing to see someone actually explain why they did support McCain (I’ve seen a lot of folks try to explain this in terms like yours), explain why they may have been wrong to do so, and explain that they wouldn’t do it again. I appreciate the candor.

I’ll be honest with you, I would still be supporting Sarah today if she hadn’t come out in support of McCain in his run for the Senate. And the longer she sticks to that decision, and supports McCain’s return to the Senate over a sound guy like Hayworth, the more it destroys my ability to reverse my current view of her.

If she continues to play a part in Hayworth being unable to gain traction, my position is going to be cast in concrete.

Imagine what it’s like for a guy like me to develop a list of despicable things McCain has been involved in for his entire life, only to have folks say it doesn’t matter and Sarah was right to back him in his Senate bid.

If folks were to say, I really despise that, but I still think she’s tops, I would just think they are silly. When they defend McCain and tell me I’m the problem, it angers me so much I want no part of the delusional movement that says Sarah could never do any wrong. And we’re now into months of this very behavior, some of the most destructive self-defeating stuff we’ve ever seen in Conservatism.

We’re not being unfair to Sarah, to point out how flawed it is to back this man.

Thanks for the back and forth.

” JD has not helped himself having a Storm Fronter backing him”

I don’t know what a “storm fronter” is, and if I don’t, I doubt the average schmoe in Arizona has either.

Rintense, I’m not a fan of Huckabee. I wouldn’t vote for him in a primary. If I had to hold my nose and vote in a general I would.

I have people close to me who like him on his show. I cringe when I hear it. The same for Romney, and now even Palin. I just cringe.

I just can’t come up with a list that is anywhere as long for Huck that I did for McCain.

Huckabee hasn’t worked with people like Soros, the Kerry’s, Ted Kennedy,... I don’t care for him, but I don’t think I could find 10% of the stuff McCain has done, if I were looking at Huckabee.
