“Angle, who believes it would be prudent — get this — to start de-funding the Department of Education.”

Excellent! ;-))))

(I am an educator.)

to start de-funding the Department of Education. The Department of Education

Quite ! How crazy can you get expecting the Federal Government to be restricted to the delegated powers enumerated in the Constitution. Thank goodness they're putting warning labels on copies of the Constitution otherwise a person could read it and realize the Feds have no constitutional authority to be engaged in any aspect of education. ( And a number of other areas for that matter.)

According to a 2009 study by the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), American students rank as follows (out of 41 countries):

Math 28
Reading 18
Science 22
Problem Solving 29

With this data out there, why Harsanyi defends the Dept of Education is a bit of a head-scratcher. Our kids aren’t keeping up. His assertion that graduation rates have increased doesn’t mean jack sh*t if standards are lowered year after year. It just means we’re churning out grads who can barely spell their name and can’t find the USA on a world map.

“You must be aware that the vast majority of Americans were unable to write or use basic arithmetic before the prestigious bureaucracy began operating in 1980. Over its 30 years of sure-footed guidance, in fact, edumacation standards have dramatically improved and graduation rates skyrocketed.”

That is a bald-faced lie. In 1910 it was estimated that within the next decade illiteracy was expected to be a thing of the past in America. That socialist freak, John Dewey, turned that on its head when he began indoctrinating students before teaching them to read.

This article is a wonderful example of just how ignorant so called journalists are today. That idiot at the Denver Post is a disgrace to journalism.
