And I do not respect her for quiting...
This is America. I would not personally choose this time and place to declare myself an idiot, but you are free to do so.
“I’m not quitting. I’m reloading.”
I hate that McCain is the beneficiary of her loyalty, but that does not impact on my admiration for Sarah and her energy and strength of character.

Me too, but think how rich i will be if Senator McCain is compelled to defer to Madame President Palin.
how rich IT will be if Senator McCain is compelled to defer to Madame President Palin.
I've been thinking about that.
It would look very bad for her if she didn't support McCain...kinda like how Algore looked when he didn't endorse Joe Lieberman for prez in 2004. Petty.
I've recognized for awhile that her endorsements and support position her perfectly for a run in 2012. I don't know whether she will or not.
She's done so by helping the Haleys, etc. I just realized that helping McCain is a part of that...a message to other politicians that she's loyal, and won't pull the rug from under their feet when politically expedient.
That has incredible value, especially to women politicians...and voters.
Yes, some of us have been saying since she resigned that she probably "quit" to run a "pre-presidential campaign".
People are starting to catch on now including Pat Buchanan.
Embarrassingly, a glance at a couple threads even here at FR shows that there are still a few people who are stuck on...not seeing it.
It's me too.
I would also add that performing a Pre Presidential Run while serving a term is not an ethical thing to do while resigning an office to make such a run, is.
I'd say it's more a case that her endorsements and support position the American political landscape closer to traditional American values. That also happens to support her for a run in 2012, but I don't think manipulation is the primary purpose of her actions today. My guess is that she would rather stay active in the political wings where she has more time and more privacy, if she could avoid running, and she'd love to see a strong conservative leader emerge and then beat Obama in 2012. Unfortunately for her, and I suspect against her wishes, she's still (at least for now) the best choice for that role.
yes it seems she took good notes on what and how Reagan did what he did

IMO no matter which person wins in AZ conservatives win. McCain was forced to move right and in that light primary elections are a good thing.
Be it POTUS, Leader of a movement, etc. She is setting herself up to be able to capitalize on every opportunity.
She is becoming the heart and soul of the Conservative movement, just as Ronald Magnus Reagan was, and before that Nixon, Taft, and Teddy Roosevelt. Whether she will run and win is uncertain, imo.
But here is a big MAMA GRIZZLY PING!
(Compared to Sarah, all others are just cub scouts)
I couldn't resist posting this one too!
And btw, make that Teddy Roosevelt, Taft, GOLDWATER, Nixon, and Reagan. Nixon was no Conservative.
People don't understand Palin because she thinks differently than other politicians. The typical Mitt buttboy politician would at this point decide he was going to run for POTUS and then do everything directed at that one goal.
Palin on the other hand made the decision she would run IF the opportunity present itself and has done everything in her power to ensure that opportunity comes about.
One is focused and directed on one goal. The other is doing plans within plans within plans and no matter how it falls out Palin will have many options to choose from.
Never seen a politician who works a crowd better than she does.
She may end up with all the chips on the table (ie. POTUS), but she is already a big winner, with more influence in the Republican Party than anyone. Not to mention the millions she has made honestly, writing books and giving speeches.
If not POTUS, then certainly some position of great influence. Someone mentioned Secretary of the Interior, and I would love to have her in that office.
He is kinda the George Will of NBC, Will really can not be trusted either, though he is often right, and is also the token Conservative for ABC for how many years?? He is also there for a reason.
This quote from the article.....
She repaid their disloyalty with unqualified loyalty to McCain, who is unlikely to forget what she did, at some cost to herself.
I can see McCain elected and trashing Sarah in 2012, hope I am wrong, but I can see it now...McCain is asked the Palin question, is she ready to be President and will you support/endorse her, McCain will say?????
