The FBI estimates that there are over 200 million privately-owned firearms in the US. If you add those owned by the military, law enforcement agencies and museums, there is probably about 1 gun per person in the country.
If you want to get a rough idea of how many guns there are out there just look at how many people you see out there then multiply by a factor of estimated ownership. The last best guess was about 350,000,000 Total. That would be 1 weapon for every man woman and child. The average gun enthusiast owns several firearms which includes pistols, shotguns, and rifles of all makes and models. It is often estimated that about 1 in 4 people own any firearms and on average firearms owners own 4 guns each.

I resemble that remark!! You’re ignoring Tennessee FReeepers.
I feel his pain. My friend had well over 200 assorted weapons before they were ALL lost in a hurricane.
SAD! sarc/
That happens a lot, I hear.
I do precision reloading for some of my guns, only 50-100 rnds at a time. And yeah, that takes a serious amount of work, which is why I do most of my reloading when the snow is flying.
Offhandedly he supposed that we didn't have any non-firing replicas, and I told him that he would be hard pressed to find a non-firing replica in my house. At the time my collection was rather modest, I don't think I had more than two dozen guns. It might even have been less. The memory tends to fade...
They’ll find out how many there are when they try to take them away from us. Hell, my piano teacher has an AR-15.
The 200 million number only counts those that didn’t “fall out of a boat” after the democrats came to power. It’s sad how many fine firearms were lost overboard in the past couple years.
If the feds can't take a joke, FUBAR.
Your estimate sounds about right.

“Gun ownership in Texas is a universal phenomena. In fact, there are more gun owners in Texas than other state in the Union. It is estimated that Texans own around 51 million firearms. That’s more firearms than owned by the 300 million people that make up the 15 nations of the European Union. In fact, America is the number one gun-owning nation in the world. But Texans possess nearly 20% of all the guns in America. (The U.S. gun count is estimated around 240 million).”
“Now you do the math. With about 24 million Texans living in the Lone Star State, the average person, including every man, woman and child, owns a little over two guns each. (Hey, maybe that’s where the popular saying comes from, you know, “Don’t Mess With Texas”!)”
You can never tell about the Brits. A guy that does a local outdoor show had some guests in from jolly olde England, and when the talk turned to firearms, he went and got a Vz-58 from his safe. They looked at it and the woman asked if she could shoot it. He said “Sure.” 30 rounds later she turned and looked at them and said, “OK, I know it’s wrong, but I need a cigarette.”
Brilliant!
And interestingly, 98% of them are owned by conservatives. How about that for a coincidence?
The gov’t shouldn’t have any idea as it’s none of their business how man guns are owned by an individual or society.
Nary a one. Yep, that's the story -- nary a one... ;-)
But OTHER folks in Texas -- I hear tell they have bunches of 'em... <GRIN!>
I don’t see any two that are exactly alike. Therefore, by definition, that cannot be an “arsenal”. It’s just a “modest collection”... ‘-)
What is the fixation of people saying their guns fell out of a boat?
So you have some guns, big deal.
I can guarantee NONE of my guns have been lost.
Have you ever been to Idaho?
I’d bet we used to have as many guns as we have taters.
Then the Earth opened up at Craters of the Moon and swallowed them all up!
That’s what happened to mine anyways...
