I've always liked Simon, even when he got snarky with contestants. More often than not his advice was dead on, he just had a thorny way of delivering the message sometimes.Yup. You'll notice that the ones who actually listen to what he tells them during the competition do much better than those who don't. Most of the time, a agree completely with what he had to say.

Very inspiring for all of us. You don’t have to have a lot to bring joy to someone.

What a kind thing to do for this little angel, may her family find comfort that she got to sing for her song.

What we have to realize, is that we are not all jerks,we are men.
We make deciscions that are some times unpopular, but in the end we are just human....
I'm glad Simon was able to help.

Thanks for the ping, Jonny~~
Truly heartwarming. I’ve always liked Simon—even when he pi$$es me off. ;^)

It got to me, too.
Think about that — all she wanted to do was sing for him. The heart of a child is a beautiful thing and the loss of one is a tragedy for us all.
Simon really came through — he is truly a stand-up guy.
Prayers for her family.

>>Exactly. Youd think conservatives would believe that telling the truth, tho it might hurt, would be preferable to leading someone on to believe s/he has talent when that is not the case.<<
I think what he does is a kindness. Soft-selling when someone flat-out has no talent is of no help to them. You can’t wish talent onto yourself — you have to have a kernel to begin with.
His direct statements are the best things the contestants can hear.

Touching story, thanks for the ping. :)

Twinkle Twinkle little star... how appropriate. I’m sure Simon Cowell will forever think of her when he hears that tune.

That’s wonderful to hear, too. I can see why he would lose patience with contestants with an entitlement mentality, when he’s done the rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches journey.
My opinion of him just notched up, again!

I think Simon is very soft deep down. I bet he cried a LOT when he got the news she’d passed.

There are a lot of celebrities who preach about helping others in need, but then turn their backs when it comes time to step up to the plate.
Say what you will about Paul Newman's politics, he is still one of Hollywood's top charity donors...two years after his death.
