I think they shut her up as a signal that the time was not opportune to say what is on the tip of many liberal tongues, that Israel’s time is running out.
Helen Thomas was forever a disgusting biased creature who finally sprung her gallows on herself. She simply won’t be missed and isn’t a good example of a free speech icon. She abhors free speech.
Helen Thomas is free to make all the speech she likes, anywhere she likes, and to publish it any time she likes. She can publish it using her own money.

I'm all for free speech, even speech that offends me. Where I draw the line is at expressly or implicitly advocating genocide. That's also why I don't think “free speech” applies to most anti-Jew and anti-Christian rants including the koran itself.

Another thing this idiot misses about “Free Speech”: Did the government shut Hellen Troll down? Nope. Free Speech protects against GOVERNMENT action, not PRIVATE reprehension at implicitly advocating genocide of Jews.
Do I think the government should ban such speech? NOPE. It let’s us see who the left really is. However, I am all for PRIVATE spurning, loss of jobs, etc.

I agree.
As much flak as we get for even alleged views, and as much as I was shocked at her statements and gleeful that she’s disappearing, I would think we’d be a bit hypocritical going after her so hard after a few remarks about Israel.
(Yes, I’ve made many statements unsupportive of Hell-in in the last few days; I know it may seem I’m contradicting myself.)
