(CNN) -- The morning the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, a BP executive and a Transocean official argued over how to proceed with the drilling, rig survivors told CNN's Anderson Cooper in an exclusive interview.
The survivors' account paints perhaps the most detailed picture yet of what happened on the deepwater rig -- and the possible causes of the April 20 explosion.
The BP official wanted workers to replace heavy mud, used to keep the well's pressure down, with lighter seawater to help speed a process that was costing an estimated $750,000 a day and was already running five weeks late, rig survivors told CNN.
BP won the argument, said Doug Brown, the rig's chief mechanic. "He basically said, 'Well, this is how it's gonna be.' "

“The Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation into the massive oil spill that has spewed as much as 798,000 gallons (19,000 barrels) of oil into the Gulf of Mexico every day.”
Say a bump to 20,000 barrels at reduced price of $70/barrel = US$1.4 million!
Lost rig. 11 dead. Cost of cleanup, fines, and whatever they lose in damages in court. And about $50,000,000 in lost crude spilled over five weeks.
Hope it was worth it to tell experienced rig operators, essentially, “My way or the highway.” That’ll learn ‘em.
This whole mess explains why Gov. Palin formed a state office in AK to “babysit” (for lack of a better term) the oil companies. It was to MAKE SURE they were not taking any safety shortcuts, cutting corners, and following the contracts as written....to the letter.
She said, in an interview with Greta about a month ago, that the same people giving shady answers in Congress then (about their drilling and safety practices), were the same people who did the same with her. Right in her office and sitting across the table from her. While she didn’t call it outright lying, she meant outright lying.
But she doesn’t know anything about oil drilling. I know this because Baghdad Bob Gibson told me so.
Oh, I don’t require that. Anymore. ;p
Well I’m going to avoid BP along with Citgo...
There’s been very little information at the national level; hopefully the local media did a better job.
In case anyone else missed it (as I did), you can leave your condolences at http://www.deepwaterhorizoncondolences.com/condolences.asp
Hmmmmmmm... who to believe?
BP that says the operators and Haliburton are at fault.
Obama who says Bush and Cheney are at fault.
The eyewitnesses that barely escaped with their lives who claim BP is at fault.
Or several FReepers that think no one is at fault.
Well, we know the FReepers are wrong because BP claims this wasn’t an accident, but a result of shoddy work by Haliburton and Transocean. And we know Obama is wrong on the Bush/Cheney blame game. So it comes down to BP vs. the workers.
Which means BP is at fault. BP contracted Transocean and Haliburton to build and manage that well. If they knew, as they claim, that Haliburton, Transocean, and all of the workers were performing badly then they had an obligation to rectify the situation. They didn’t. So whether we believe BP or the workers, in the end BP is ultimately responsible and at fault.
They had down hole pressure sensors that would have indicated that problem.
Do you really think the oil industry can't deal with high pressure wells?
Flowing wells are a God send.
btw, the same guy who was on 60 Minutes a week or so ago, called in Mark Levin’s show about 9 or 10 days after the rig blew up. This was BEFORE the interview was given to 60 Minutes. After the tv interview, Levin confirmed to his audience that it was the same guy, as they had his real name off the air, before the guy decided to go public on TV.
If you want to listen to that interview:

I’ve been wondering the same. I don’t like that those eleven souls seem to have been completely forgotten in all of this.
One question bugs me:
What is the “pecking order”?
Specifically,... Can a tool pusher overrule a company man when it comes to a procedure that will probably end up costing him his rig?
Just wondering.
bfl
Thank you for this link. Putting faces with the names...
I just want those guys to be remembered.
Good question.
New story to CNN
Fox had it 2 weeks ago!
LOL .... The reason that I asked is because I saw it happen in a sticky situation in Eastern Oklahoma.... long ago in a previous life.
The Tool Pusher got his way.
But, then again, he was a foot taller and out-weighed the Company Man by 100 pounds easy. :)
Wondering about the details of:
1.When did BP get selected to drill in this location?
2.Why was BP selected over a U.S. Company like EXXON?
3.Why did the Obama Regulator approve the latest Fatal
Change Request 5 minutes after it was given to HER?
4.BP gave over $ 1 Million to Bozo’s Campaign, how much more
to other Demorats, and DNC Committees? Did they give any to the RNC or McPain?
5.How much did BP spend on their massive TV d Campaign supporting Bozo’s Green Energy and Windmill Energy Plan and Cap and Trade? It had to be Millions!
6. Why did Bozo play down this massive scandal for over two months pretending that BP had it all under control?
There is a billion other questions and this stinks as bad as Obozo making Love to every Enemy of America and giving his Infamous Crotch Salute yet again at the Memorial for the Ft Hood Muslim Terrorist Victims!
I read this same thing about a day or two after it happened.
Were you a driver?
Anyway DO NOT BELIEVE CNN.
Thanks Ken
