Who's the BP boycott really hurting?
my Fox - Tampa Bay ^ | 7 Jun 2010 | Kristin Wright

BP does not own a vast majority of its gas stations. They're run by small business owners like Ravaee who make their money mostly off inside sales. They are concerned about the boycott gaining momentum.

"They are not harming BP. BP won't feel this at all at the retail level. The people being harmed are mom and pop small businesses," said Jim Smith, President of the Florida Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Store Associations.

Oil is fungible, these idiot boycotters are still buying BP products from other gas stations and have no clue.

There’s a BP terminal near me. That gas goes to stations all over the area.

Any boycott of BP won't stop the mess that's happened, and it won't stop 'the money train' as liberal nuts will have you believe. BP will just sell their oil to another source.

How did liberals get so damn dumb? Their lack of supply/demand knowledge is truly astounding.

People are absolute idiots. Sad to say it, but anger trumps. They can’t grasp that the people who will get hurt here are innocents, not connected to the bad decisions in any way shape or form.

Close every single BP service station in the U.S., and BP sales won’t be touched.

“Yes, but we’re sending a message.” Yep, you sure are folks. You’re willing to stab your fellow citizens in the back on a whim, and for no justifiable reason whatsoever.

Damn them, damn their kids, damn their whole families. “Ahhhh, we sure showed them.”

Shakes head as he walks away...

Make the price a penny cheaper than the competitor and the boycott is over.

I buy whichever is cheaper. it all comes in on the same pipeline anyway.

I have been wondering just how BP is going to be able to pay for the cleanup and all the other expenses if they are out of business. I would think that it would be to everybody's interest if BP could stay in business since their finances have a limit somewhere. If they are broke and bankrupt, 100% of the cost of the cleanup will be on the American dime..

...unless, of course, some other country steps up to help....(fat chance on that)

President Zer0 will most likely see to it that he sufficiently kicks BP's ass so that Americans are assured that they will have to pay and pay and pay and.........

Don't let the obama machine (actually it's more of an obama 'gadget') con you into boycotting BP...it's just the kenyan trying to do more "shape-shifting" to get the heat off himself.

BP did not do this on purpose; logic dictates that no business is going to do something like this when it knows it will take billions to fix it.

BP's demise would put us one step closer to "electric cars" and "windmill power grids", which only algore and the rabid, mangy environuts favor.

I shop BP every chance I get, and will continue to do so.

Fight back, America...don't let obama become our Chavez.

Be angry at BP but be rational.

All Getty stations in New England are being converted over to the BP banner (with the cute ‘green’ logo)

Now these station owners are taking a hit because the ‘uber liberal’ Northeast are boycotting BP - just ducky.....

If I thought boycotting a gas station accomplished something useful I would have written off BP when they started running Glowbull Warming ads.

In that case BP may boycott us. There are many other nations that will be happy to buy their oil. Imagine the price at the pump in the USA if BP just started selling their oil to China instead.

It makes you a capitalist. But remember what they say:

The problem with socialism is socialism. The problem with capitalism is capitalists.

Doesn’t BP corp. dictate to the retailers what they charge for gas and when? Even when the station has already had its tanks topped off for the month? The BP station near my work is the quickest at raising gas prices when the price of a barrel goes up but the slowest to lower them. BP in NoVa is neither the cheapest or the most expensive but I hope this boycott forces the higher ups to allow the BP retailers to be much more competitive here.
