The immigration factor in McCain's reelection fight (Flip Flopping RINO alert)

Reporting from Mesa, Ariz. — As a candidate for president, Republican John McCain lamented his party's tough talk on illegal immigration. "In the long term, if you alienate the Hispanics, you'll pay a heavy price," he told a group of Milwaukee businessmen in October 2006.

Back then, some strongly favored walling off the U.S.- Mexico border to address the problem, but not McCain. "I think the fence is least effective," the Arizona senator said.

Lately, however, McCain has transformed himself from a champion of broad-based reform — who spoke of illegal immigrants as "God's children," deserving of love and compassion — into a fierce advocate for the kind of crackdown he once scorned.

"In the long term, if you alienate the Hispanics, you'll pay a heavy price,"

Provably false.

One needs to look no farther than the most recent presidential election.

Mister McCain will never, ever understand this.

"If the people of Arizona saddle America with this chump, they can kiss their get tough on illegals laws goodbye."

Not sure that will be the case since Gov. Brewer is spearheading our cause. However, we (all States) will be stuck with a bleeding-heart RINO once again if McLame stays in office. Why can't these people just retire? It's not like they won't have board directorships or lobbying or speaking opportunities if they still have the need for engagement. Just go away.

Personally, I believe the RINO's are going to find their religion come November. I truly think that there are so many more conservatives out there who are fed up than the TEA Party even knows about.

Even if we don't get our Conservative/Constitutional guys in, the RINO's are going to learn a huge lesson.

It's time to hold true to your Conservative principles. Those on this board and others and throughout the land that say you are splitting the Republican vote, so what? What good have the Pubbies done us? Even when Bush had the WH and the Pubbies had both houses, they spent and spent and created a whole new entitlement program (read: drugfare). They are not the answer back to our Constitutional roots. They are part of the problem.

As I have been saying for years, States' Rights is the way back. Screw the Federal political machine. Support your State!

Phoenix and the majority of Arizona’s population are in Maricopa County - Sheriff Arpaio’s county. Any favorable crimes stats can be credited to Arpaio’s valiant enforcement of Arizona’s illegal alien laws:

Sheriff for almost 2-decades:
Arpaio successfully campaigned for the office of Maricopa County Sheriff in 1992. Since then, he has successfully won re-election in 1996, 2000, and 2004 with considerable support of the county voters.

Arizona’s conservative governors, as if by magic, get kicked out of office:

Gov. Evan Mecham
Gov. John Symington

Fair, but there is a new dynamic in place. Governor Jan Brewer is on the cutting edge and taking no prisoners, to mix metaphors. I now have faith. Plus, many other States are considering similar laws. The time has come for the Individual States to rise up and tell the Fedgov - no more! You have gone way beyond your Constitutional mandates and mis-contrued, exaggerated, and corrupted that Historical Document that has made the World a better place.

You may ask: What can the States do in this financial down-turn if the States refused to accept obambicare and other dictates? I believe some (and growing) will tell DC that we will no longer accept unfunded mandates and are willing to live on our own. If the Fedgov wants to withhold taxpayer dollars, I suggest the Individual States stop sending tax receipts to DC. Think how much more money the Individual States could have, while starving the beast.

Yes, I know, easier said that done - takes political fortitude and more that just a few States. But if the above were to occur, what could DC do? Send in the military to attack said rebellious States? Highly unlikely due to Posse Commitus Act. Nationalize all National Guard? Again, not likely. Send in the alphabet agencies, with their SWAT teams? Hardly. That would really piss off everyone.

Obama & Co. would have no idea how to deal with such a financial rebellion. "Community organizers" have NO real take on such things. Also, any Governor worth his/her salt, could mobilize their own State National Guard and dare the Fedgov to kill their citizens. Even as a marxist, he doesn't have the cojones - he's impotent.

The above simply wouldn't happen in this day and age. This is not the 1860's. Brother is not going to fight brother in our iPod era. DC would have to compromise. I guarantee it.

STATES' RIGHTS!
Immigration. Sovereignty. Gun Rights. Freedom from unfunded mandates. Restoration of States' Right under the 9th and 10th Amendments.

Fedgov wants a showdown? I say let's give it to them! I'm ready to support those Amendments.

Let's finally put State sovereignty to the test. Lawsuits be damned. The United States Supreme Court has NO enforcement power. Let them say what they will as us Patriots stand by our Founding Fathers' vision and tell them to shove their socialist non-compliance with the Constitution. Let them try to enforce their social engineering un-Constitutional decisions. Good luck with that if the STATES stand firm.

Hopefully, those who are for enforcing our immigration laws won’t forget McCain’s lead role in the failed push for amnesty, and those whom McCain has spent years courting with his soft-on-illegals position will abandon him for this betrayal. McCain has stabbed everyone in the back at one time or another, no matter what side they’re on. Sooner or later, someone like him runs out of people to alienate. Here’s to hoping McCain’s weaselly ways has finally caught up to him once and for all.

Unfortunately if he gets his way on Amnesty, all his other conservative positions will be negated in a decade.

As to his ACU rating, you might want to look at the trend, it looks worse then the Euro.

SFW? What are you trying to say? McCain's not a rino and loves conservatives because of some silly ACU rating?

People who support and vote for this liberal coddling, disloyal, backstabber are becoming the enemies of conservatives!

That's what Abraham Lincoln did. Declared insurrection (without state-government certification as stipulated by the Constitution and the Militia Act) and sent an army to crush the disobedient, seize the State and its government, and disenfranchise its People.

The servants took over the house, in effect, and locked the (surviving) owners in the basement. We've been there ever since.

Misleading, as in 2009 he joined other republicans to say no to Obama’s agenda .. BUT from 2000 to 2008 he was enabler of a lot of bad liberal proposals.
