GOP bad dream: Birther on ticket By: Kasie Hunt June 7, 2010 03:53 PM EDT
California Republicans optimistic about their prospects in November could find themselves with a bit of a problem after the votes are counted in Tuesdays primaries - a statewide ticket with the so-called Birther Queen as one of their candidates.
Orly Taitz is an Israeli émigré who has spent the last two years filing lawsuits challenging President Barack Obamas right to be president on the grounds that he was born in Kenya. In the process, she has earned herself $20,000 in court fines.
Now shes running for the GOP nomination for secretary of state, and with her establishment-backed primary opponent mounting a less-than-stellar campaign against her, operatives say theres a chance she could win.
Itd be a disaster for the Republican party, says James Lacy, a conservative GOP operative in the state. Can you imagine if [gubernatorial candidate] Meg Whitman and [candidate for Lt. Gov.] Abel Maldonadoboth of whom might have a chance to win in Novemberhad to run with Orly Taitz as secretary of state, who would make her cockamamie issues about Obamas birth certificate problems at the forefront of her activities?
There is no Republican candidate for statewide office that would be willing to have her campaign with them, says Adam Probolsky, a spokesman for the Orange County Republican Party.

Let the people decide, not some cabal of elitists.
HMmm it seems the media didn’t think it was a disaster for so many Michael Moore Truthers running on Democrat tickets. I’m not a big fan of Birtherism being a central campaign issue but I think it is rather harmless compared to the 9-11 truther movement which was very much a part of the Democrat mainstream thought.

Nothing wrong with that.
She’s got my vote.
: )
*ping*
Whitman is not a Republican and cannot win in November. But I don’t blame her for not wanting to be seen with Orly Taitz.
I could care less if both Meg Whitman and Abel Maldonado lose in November. In fact, I hope they both lose.
Here’s why. CA is so screwed up right now because of 40 years of liberalism. We are $$BILLION in debt and $$BILLIONS short for next years fiscal budget. Either taxes have to go up or spending has to go down, or both. If a Republican (Meg) has to oversee the tax increase and budget cuts, she will be vilified by the liberal media and the state worker’s unions.
I would much rather see Jerry Brown and his democRAT cohorts grapple with this problem that belongs to them. I want Californians and all Americans to see what 40 years of liberalism looks like (just like Greece).
On the contrary, an Orly Taliz victory would be awesome. Her first action as Secretary of State would be to see who “validated” Barry Soetoro’s credentials. That would be a lot of fun. Based on Barry’s tanking poll numbers, she could win.
This has our media’s heads spinning. The media’s worst fear is that Barry is not legal and the media did nothing to investigate it. Bloggers win. Media loses. That is their worst fear. watch they villify Orly from now until November.
As if the combination of Whitman and Maldonado at the top of the ticket isn't bad enough, he should have said, we have to put up with a "birther."
Orly is a bit of a running joke over the last couple years, but her heart is in the right place. BTW, she was born in the former Soviet Union, and was a Russian citizen before emigrating to the US, that from her own statement.
If 0bama was born in Hawaii, why is his SSN (042-xx-xxxx) that of someone born in Connecticut? Hmmmmmmmmmm.
Awww. Isn’t it sweet that the little lefty drones who populate the MSM are so concerned and obsessed about the GOP’s fate to the exclusion of all else?
Never mind that their bonehead love object in the WH is taking the gas pipe on every issue and the Dem brand is getting a favorability profile somewhat akin to terminal cancer.
“Now shes running for the GOP nomination for secretary of state”
Doesn’t seem to have much support:

Campaign disclosures filed with incumbent Secretary of State Debra Bowen show that Taitz has raised $6,000 and loaned her campaign an additional $39,600. Her opponent in the Republican primary, Irvine businessman Damon Dunn, has raised $276,000 and loaned his campaign $60,000 more.
There are more birthers out there than being reported and they too will vote in Nov.
The CA GOP should be happy to have Orly Taitz as its candidate for SOS. If Orly should win, that could possibly cause O to have second thoughts about running for re-election in 2012, since the SOS supervises the elections in the state. Far better that she hold the office than a Dem hack who would routinely condone cheating and fraud.
Soros has been targeting these positions, would rather have Orly.
