F-bombs and Women Kissing at the MTV Movie Awards By Noel Sheppard Created 06/07/2010 - 12:30
As I walked into the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Studios Sunday evening, I had no idea the level of vulgarity I was in store for.
Attending my first MTV Movie Awards, I was immediately stunned by the number of F-words in the opening video clip of Tom Cruise recreating his movie executive roll in the film "Tropic Thunder."
Little did I know that the evening would be filled with F-bombs from a number of Hollywoodans, so much so that the man that accepted the award for best movie at the end of the festivities (Peter Facinelli of the "Twilight" series) commented, "I just want to say I've never heard the word 'f--k' used so many times in one evening."
At that moment, I thought Facinelli was going to comment about just how absurd all the vulgarity was. Instead, he went on an F-bomb-laden speech of his own (video available here [1], others follow, extreme vulgarity warning):
This was Cruise's video that opened the show:
To really shock the crowd, Sandra Bullock decided to kiss Scarlett Johansson at the end of her acceptance speech for the Generation award:
Potentially most revolting were comments made by presenter Aubrey Plaza who for some reason chose to tell the audience, "Megan Fox, I have always wanted to f--k you. And when you threw up on Amanda Seyfried in 'Jennifer's Body,' it made me want to f--k you more. Wherever you are tonight, I'm going to find you, and f--k you."
Amazing. Is that considered fitting at an awards ceremony now?
As the evening drew to a close, and folks began leaving the hall to go to after-parties, I had a chat with one of the cameramen who said that this was by far the worst thing he's ever filmed for MTV.
He told me how saddened he was as a parent that this kind of stuff is now allowed on television albeit cable.
I couldn't agree more.
That was before SeeBS-Viacom bought it.
It’s an MTV event.
I wouldn’t expect it to be anything classy.
It doesn't serve as a good "character witness" when CBS declares that the MTV coordinated Superbowl halftime show with Janet Jackson was "a wardrobe malfunction". She purchased her giant nipple piercing in Houston, one of a pair (she didn't buy the matched piece). It was for her show.
SeeBS-VH1-Viacom also edited out the boos Hillary Clinton received at the Concert for NYC and overdubbed the NYPD/NYFD boos with CHEERS.
So maybe they'll "clean it up" for rebroadcast. Maybe.
Russell Brand looks like he was dipped in a vat of Aids, and has the personality to match.
What else would one expect from filth.
I wish they would do something shocking like shoot each other with real guns. This is such pussy. That’s one thing about the acting class is that they can never get their act together and really get it on. Hollywood is just so pussy in the pussy department.
Doesn’t the term “beard” more accurately reflect the situation than “wife” or “bride”?
Me too back in 1982 I remember staying up all night just to watch MTV.
Sooo not guilty.
Russell Brand is proof that you CAN survive an abortion.
I prefer Katy's look-alike, Zooey Deschanel.
I tuned in the the MTV movie awards one time years ago to see some rap singer mounted on the behind of a “dancer” as they simulated doggy-style sex. I changed the channel.
So you can imagine what I thought of the revelation that U.S. Senator John McCain had taken his then 15-year-old daughter to the awards.
The kind of “entertainment” that was once reserved for “adults”-only venues is now considered fine for kids.
There is a high positive correlation between vuglarity and low IQ.
“Its an MTV event.

#####
MTV?
It doesn’t even come close to rising to the level of a complete waste of time.
Might as well watch a bunch of pimply adolescents trying to ignite farts with a Bic lighter.
my eyes, my eyes!!!!!
And Al and Tipper Gore are silent on this issue today. It was nothing but a taxpayer funded stunt to get national exposure for Al Gore’s 1988 presidential campaign. He didn’t get the nod but by 1992, he got the VP nomination and in 2000 he got the presidential nomination.
The Gores threw entertainers and record store clerks under the bus for their own personal advancement in politics. Shows everything the Gores are about and is just as true of the “environment” concerns.
....and was white!
I like her too, but I definitely prefer Katy.
