Peter Singer is a Princeton professor who has advocated the infanticide of disabled infants. Now he advocates the extinction of mankind.

Reading about American "higher education" often enrages me. My wife and I have the bizarre notion that universities should help students appreciate Western civilization and prepare students for rewarding (financially, and if possible, intellectually) careers. Our lives revolve around providing for and educating our children. We're supposed to pay $50K a year to Princeton to subsidize a professor who would demoralize our children, trying to persuade them that there is something wrong with the basic human desire to marry and procreate? Go to hell, Princeton, and take Singer with you.

Peter Singer is a bloomin’ idiot. Even the NYT editorial staff probably thinks he’s a troll.

You are getting angry at the wrong man. Singer is a man who is honest enough to say what liberals actually believe. Most liberals consider him a very dangerous man, because his blunt views scare people away from liberalism. What do you prefer - a dishonest liberal who does not tell you what he really believes?

Your children, if they share your values, are actually safer in Singer’s classroom, than they would be in the classroom of a dishonest liberal. Singer will shock them. Many dishonest professors believe the same things as Singer, but deodorize their views, in order to make them more appealing to your children.

What I find amazing is how illogical Singer's position is. So let's accept the premise that we are a blight upon the earth and our presence will make the earth uninhabitable. How does it make a difference if we do or don't procreate? If we have no children, there will be no one to enjoy the healed Earth and if we do have children so what? Does he think the Earth is conscious?

Or is this article a head fake. He wants the rest of us to stop having children so only he and the offspring of the enlightened can inherit the Earth?

Singer’s assumptions, that the entire World would decide simumtaleously to voluntarily self-sterilize, is so ridiculous that it makes any subsequent discussion meaningless.

The fact of the matter is the future belongs to those who choose to show up. The Liberal West is in a demographic coffin corner, with much less than replacement birth rate in many countries.

These demographic trends, if not checked, will bury us.

Reading Singer’s books in college made me pro-life. His slippery slope arguments on abortion and infanticide made it clear that since there was little difference between the two, and infanticide was morally wrong, then abortion was morally wrong as well.

That wasn’t the conclusion he wanted people to draw, but it is a logically consistent view.

New Ping about death cultivators who worship Sus the sustainability god. The despicable nature of their logic, as demonstrated by their peddling of pessimism like the following, is their GOOD side. The mandatory legislation that they're brewing is what must be attacked.
"Few of us would think it right to inflict severe suffering on an innocent child, even if that were the only way in which we could bring many other children into the world. Yet everyone will suffer to some extent, and if our species continues to reproduce, we can be sure that some future children will suffer severely. Hence continued reproduction will harm some children severely, and benefit none."
I got the following note from an acquaintance who likes to bug me about my stance against Sustainability worshipers: Sounds about right to me.

I am proud that I was the recipient of the following slam Get thee to a psychiatrist. in Jan 2002. A now silent FReeper Tkmorris wanted either not to think of what this ping list addresses, or wanted to embarrass me into abandoning my efforts.

This thread tells you of the latest effluent from Sus high priest Peter Singer.

Today his spin is:

"Life may be hard, so why should anybody need face hardship?

Life? Overrated!

Better to cast your babies into the furnace ahead of time.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
Tomorrow it will be you whom ZeroCare casts in there as your baby won't be there to protect you.

It's all for the best you know.
We're only concerned for your happiness." /s

Most thoughtful people are extremely concerned about climate change.

Actually, no, they're not. There's your basic error, Idiot-boy Singer. Mindless liberal sheeple represent the bulk of those who are "extremely concerned about climate change." Since that premise is false, and since that premise undergirds the entire argument, it necessarily follows that the argument is unsound - that's the fancy-pants way of saying it's false.

So, Singer, are you really that stupid, or that parochial in your outlook (that you would have conflated the mindless liberal sheeple you hang out with in Princeton with "most thoughtful people?" Or, as is more likely, are you simply dissembling for ulterior political motives?

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Romans 1
