We are moving forward with or without BP. We gave them two choices they can either send us a check, get out of the way and let us start this work, or they can sign a contract and do it themselves. We are going ahead without them. Last night, we met with Admiral Allen and he said he feels like he is making progress in getting BP to actually pay for this work. To date, BP has done a great job in sending us press releases and attorneys, but they havent sent us any money to dredge.

The President should release funds to Louisiana, just as presidents have released funds to states in the past.
Time is of the essence.
Lives and livelihoods are at stake.
Recoup the money from BP later.
States that do not vote for Obama receive no aid from Obama.
All true, but Jindal probably should have gone ahead with the work a few weeks ago—and worried about the payment later.
Five weeks, or is it six, and he’s still whining about getting paid. Kind of like Nagin waiting for better busses.
GET IT DONE MAN!!!
Hate to say it, but I agree with you. Even Palin tweeted encouraging him to just act already.
Yeah, just ask the folks in Nashville that are still looking for their homes!
Why “be glad” to have another illegal alien in your state?
Yeah, just ask the folks in Nashville that are still looking for their homes!
Or the peope in Kentucky who suffered from last year's ice storms!
Remember, we are dealing with a petty and narcissus racist here.
agreed
Is Jindal still huffing and puffing in front of the cameras?
Man Up. Get off the stage Bobbie, roll up your sleeves and get er done. Call George Bush and Doick Cheney for advice and support. They can call some folks in the industry, help coordinate the governors and state people, and help you out
It must be so frustrating & heartbreaking for Jindal....to wake up each day to this.
Its frustrating and heartbreaking to see this milquetoast stand up everyday and issue faint adulation for obama and BP.....then jawbone
Loosiana needs General Patton - not Mr Rogers
Barack Obama is doing a worthless job.
Yes. Jindal might deserve some blame for that.
Still I'll bet the individual LA parishes deserved some Federal money, like the counties in Arkansas did in 2000.
Federal Emergency Funds Authorized For Arkansas [2000]
Washington, DC -- The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today designated 52 counties in Arkansas eligible for federal disaster funds to supplement state and local response efforts to the severe winter storms that hit the state beginning December 12, 2000.FEMA Director James Lee Witt took the action after President Clinton authorized the assistance under an emergency declaration issued this afternoon. Under the declaration, federal funds will be available to the state and affected local governments in the 52 counties to pay 75 percent of the eligible cost for debris removal and emergency services related to the storm.
The counties designated for assistance include Arkansas, Benton, Bradley, Calhoun, Clark, Cleveland, Columbia, Crawford, Crittenden, Cross, Dallas, Desha, Drew, Faulkner, Franklin, Garland, Grant, Hot Springs, Howard, Hempstead, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Lafayette, Lee, Lincoln, Little River, Logan, Lonoke, Madison, Miller, Mississippi, Monroe, Montgomery, Nevada, Ouachita, Perry, Pike, Polk, Poinsett, Prairie, Pualski, St. Francis, Saline, Scott, Sebastian, Sevier, Washington, White, Woodruff, Union and Yell. Witt indicated that additional designations may be made later if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
Thanks for providing the facts!!! They will be useful.
And he's getting in the way of people who are attempting to do something.
He is more interested in pinning the blame on BP than he is in helping Americans.
He’s a great numbers guy, maybe even a good administrator, but LEADER.............not
BP today announced that it has established a $360 million escrow account to fund immediately the construction of six sections of Louisiana barrier islands approved by the U.S. government. BP has been directed to pay for the construction by the federal government. Since the environmental implications of the projects are not fully understood, BP assumes no liability for unexpected or unintended consequences of these projects.
BP has already provided $170 million to Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida to help with their response costs and help promote their tourism industries. The company has also paid approximately $43 million in compensation to people and companies affected by the spill.
