AN Abu Dhabi tower has been recognised as the "furthest-leaning man-made tower" in the world by Guinness World Records.
The 160-metre Capital Gate tower, developed by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company, leans at 18 degrees - over four times the angle of Italy's famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, Khaleej Times reported.
ADNEC said the tower earned the record following an evaluation by Guinness World Records that began in January, the month the tower's exterior was completed, Gulf News reported

Not in my book!
Disgusting.
Why is this bankrupt country spending huge sums of money building islands, Formula One racetracks and towers like this?
“If you build it they will come?” Ehhh...
Agree. The exteriors, at least, are beautiful. Often the interiors are tacky Islamic Rococo.
Maybe the UAE will be the middle east’s Detroit in the future.
I would call it “overhanging” or “cantilever”, not “leaning”.
cantilevered is not the same as leaning. Cool building concept though.
One wonders what the uproar would be if, oh I don’t know, Major Garrett said all Muslims need to leave the US?
The usual: money, different concepts and government red tape. The Port Authority actually owns the land, so everything is by committee...it’s just a sad commentary abnout our country. All the innovation, the can-do spirit has moved to the new economic growth centers - Shanghai, Dubai, etc.
I would say “Bloody Stupid Johnson.”
True.
That’s something for Helen Thomas to sit on.
LOL!
Or Orcah!
Except for the coming Cordoba mosque to be built across the street from ground zero site.
“Islamic Rococo” Ahahaha! A think you’ve coined a new phrase.
I'm leaning towards "no".
Good answer re failure to replace WTC. Thanks.
And let's say a developer comes to me and wants to build a 35 story high rise. Even more interesting, he wants it to lean at an 18 degree angle. And to make things more interesting still, he tells me he wants to build it on sand.
Gee, I think to myself, I wonder if it would be wise to make such a loan? I wonder what the underwriting committee will think? And what will the bank president and the Board of Directors think when they hear of this loan? And what will our investors think of us for having made such a loan.
looks like a womans boot.
Yes, that will be a nice pilgrimage site for the purveyors of death...they can all go pray at the site of a great Islamic victory. I can’t believe this is happening.
