Gulf widens between grouchy Merkel and gloating Sarkozy
Matthew Campbell
ALL eyes will be on Germanys Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, when they meet tomorrow to try to reassure the world that the famous Franco-German motor of Europe has not blown a gasket.
Relations between the two countries have reached their lowest ebb in decades and the diminutive French leader and the matronly German can hardly disguise the irritation they feel for each other.
The days are over when they would exchange pleasantries and grin albeit through gritted teeth. According to one account, they sat in grim silence through a recent lunch in Paris, speaking only to aides.
A French diplomat referred to a very tense climate and held out little hope for a thaw in the frost tomorrow when Sarkozy is expected to try, yet again, to convince his sceptical German counterpart that the European Union needs its own economic government.

P!
In other words, things are back to normal.
So now France thinks it's got the power of Napoleon, but can help itself to Germany's money to project that power. I think the Germans might have a different idea.
Knowing Sarkozy, he probably made a pass a Merkel in an attempt to “defuse” the situation. Needless to say, it didn’t help.
LOL.
The President of the EU Commission (a Belgian no less, Belgium hasn't had a functioning government in decades) seems to think EMU now has treaty authority to print money and pass it out.
Sarkozy and his Club Med buds have always pushed for politicians to have the printing press authority.
Merkel gave in to The Obammunist and approved the Greaser bailout at the cost of her coalition.
Seems many non EMU EU members are broke (Baltics, Hungary).
The Telegraph headlines the demise of the EUro in Sunday's paper.

A New European Empire may be possible,... and it will speak German.
Third try’s a charm?
We already had a go at a Turd Reich.
In 2009 she was “Iron Angie” or the Germinator!!
In 2010 she agrees to bail out the Greeks (and the French banks) which is something the Germans were promised would never happen.
From Hero to Zero!!! I wonder if she's secretly ordered up the printing presses for the D-Mark (much missed in Germany) and looking to tell “Europe” where to go and what to do when they get there!!!
That does seem to be the problem. I enjoyed the link to the Telegraph article. I agree that the Euro will not survive in its current form. Some countries will leave. I don't see the Greeks having enough sense or self-discipline to restructure their debt. I think the politicians would risk a revolution in the streets and just default on their debt.
It seems the Brits were smart not to join the Euro, though the Brits have there own economic problems. Socialist politicians never seem to learn that the IOUs have to be paid back at some point.
As far as socialist countries go, the Germans are to be admired. The Germans seem to be able to tell the unions, "This far and no more", thus limiting the negative redistributive fiscal harm.
European socialism = the state decides who gets to participate in the capitalist system and how far they go.
There is always the problem of these commies wanting to export their ideology.
The EU wasted no time making war on Yugoslavia, forcing nationalist parties to kowtow, forcing Eastern European countries into the EU.
There is little to be admired in the EUrotopia Union as a whole.
Where there is no God, there are no morals. There can be no viable civilization.

I would agree. The EU socialist experiment is running out of steam. As someone one once said the behavior that democracies prefer to practice is not the behavior that preserves democracies. I think Europe will see very chaotic days ahead.
