Man tried voodoo, black magic against prosecutor and investigators, authorities allege (CA)
Los Angeles Times ^ | 6-2-10 | Richard Winton

“The star attractions were these three effigy dolls dunked upside down in this brown liquid. One of them had my name, and the other two had the names of investigators.”

Each doll had pins in its eyes, he said. Attached to the dolls was the case number in the criminal charges. Hanrahan said that inside the home on Thorndike Road investigators also found their names wrapped around a baseball bat.

“Even the U.S. marshals were spooked,” he said. Officials decided to find out the background of the shrine, with help of a UCLA professor.

"The prosecutor said Hernandez later admitted creating the dolls of his enemies but claimed the “pins were a form of spiritual acupuncture” to make them see that he was a good man."

From the article:
With the trial finally over, Hanrahan said it’s safe to report the apparent spells did not work. But he wasn’t always that sure.

“Around the time of the preliminary hearing my left foot swelled up. It became very painful…. But it later fixed itself,” said Hanrahan. “I didn’t think about it at the time, until we discovered the shrine.”

Now, THAT is spooky....

Interesting, I wonder if we could do the same to all politicians who pass draconian bills on the American People?

Name each doll after each politician and place the bill number they sponser.

I would not like being so intensely hated, but voodoo does not frighten me.

I can also say “Voldemort!”

He that is in me is stronger than he who is in the world.

Well, there is certainly something going on with our friends from the south. I don't know if I'd call it magic though.

Do you think this type of stuff happens on a less punctuated scale with younger kids? Search sorcery/spells/magic. Could many parents have been hoodwinked by three cute kids and a capable writer?

What do you mean by "state sponsored"?

I know that the courts ruled something about Santeria being legal, but I was unaware of anything like that regarding Voodoo.

Years ago, I knew a young Inuit man who was touring the “lower 48”, and had landed in town just before Halloween. He wore casual clothes and had a ratty fedora, and a girl he had met gave him some face paint for Halloween night.

By sheer luck, she unintentionally made him to look like a Voodoo loa, or spirit. He was very puzzled by how several times, when black people saw him, they took off in a hurry.
