DALLAS It was a free-for-all on a Dallas freeway: People flocked to a busy intersection Friday morning to scoop up boxes of graham crackers spilled in an accident Thursday night.
Dallas County Sheriff's Department is trying to determine what caused an 18-wheeler to overturn in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35E at Colorado Boulevard. The wreck snarled traffic for hours overnight. last night.
After the sun came up Friday, rubberneckers turned into cracker collectors.
Deputies had their hands full trying to prevent motorists from rushing in collect hundreds of packages of Honey Maid graham crackers that had been dislodged from the semi-trailer when it turned over.
"I got enough for all my grandkids and my house," said Dora Richards, one of the snack-seekers. Just out of the hospital, she was all smiles after spotting the mountain of graham crackers on her way home.
Like so many others, she instantly pulled over and loaded up.
"This is what I give my kids for snacks, because they have ADHD and bipolar, and I don't give them no real sweet stuff, so it's a blessing for me," Richards said.
By 7:30 a.m., the free-for-all had triggered a traffic jam on I-35 headed into downtown Dallas, the same place where the 18-wheeler had crashed on its side on Thursday evening, spilling its cargo of tasty treats.
The 44-year-old truck driver was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition Friday, but his load was left behind a secret until sun-up.
"They were stopping, literally, 10 to 15 at a time, causing not only a traffic hazard, but people were crossing the highway here and could have gotten hit," said sheriff's department spokeswoman Kimberly Leach.
The graham cracker-grab came to an abrupt halt at 10 a.m., when county health officials ruled that the snacks had spent too much time in the sun and were no longer safe for consumption.
Richards appeared to be unconcerned about whether the boxes she grabbed had been tainted. "I'm going to make a graham cracker pie," she said.
An insurance adjuster for the trucking company was also at the scene Friday morning trying to tally the extent of the loss.
Before you get all excited, you might want to read up on the effects of civil wars. Ours was probably the least destructive to the society of all great civil wars, with by far the fewest atrocities.
Taiping Rebellion
Spanish Civil War
English Civil War
French Wars of Religion
Russian Civil War
Etc.
And you really shouldn’t take it for granted your side will win.
I bet the average weight of these thieves is in the high twos.............
And you should never underestimate the cost.
That area is infested with obama voters!
um....what?
Bunch of @$#%& crackers - BTTT.
“S’Mores for everyone!”
Don't know how many she has ... but this tells us that she is getting about $856 per child per month from the generous working taxpayers. There is a segment of the community that has nothing but 'slow' children.
A thief with kids with every phony “disorder” in the book (which will no doubt result in higher welfare receipts). Anybody still wonder how Hussein got elected?
This may be the only example in zero’s presidency where his supporters gave instead of took...although that’s not what they had in mind. They cleaned up a mess that the state would have been required to do and cost the taxpayers money...but the obama voters did it for them. Damn nice of them, don’t you think?
LOL
Yup. IMO there is far too much loose talk on FR about rebellion and civil war.
Such drastic measures are sometimes the only measures left to defend freedom, but as long as elections are still taking place I don’t think we’re there yet.
Yes. South Dallas. The neighborhood was probably as much a threat to the life of the driver as was the wreck.
The goggles, they do nothing!
“My grandmother is elderly, and she uses he wrist...alot.”
Looked like they were picking through a landfill of garbage—which is basically what it is at this point. Imagine if the truck was carrying Kools, 40’s, or KFC.
God saw her kids needed graham crackers so He overturned a delivery truck and tied up the freeway just for her.
IMO there is far too much loose talk on FR about rebellion and civil war.I do not say it loosely, or with glee. I do not promote it or look forward to it, and if there was any way to avoid it, I would be amenable to it. If a peacable solution to the destruction of my nation and people was available I would support it 100%. Sadly, we are hurtling toward our demise and the masses care more about Dancing With The Stars than the abridgement of their liberty and the wholesale ransacking of of their country. The remainder who have awareness are getting mad.
As a (nascent) student of history I do not see any other possible outcome than civil strife as the old values and ways are destroyed and the people are saddled with an oppressive, totalitarian regime. This would have been complete kookery even 5 years ago to say this stuff, but every day it appears to be the inevitable result of the leftist takeover of the reigns of government, society, and culture.
So: do I advocate violence? No. Do I see it as a growing inevitability if we continue on our current course? Sadly, yes. ...as long as elections are still taking place I dont think were there yet.
But what happens when elections become a sad farce? What happens when voters are intimidated at the polls and the Attorney General contends not only that no malfeasance exists, but if it did it is understandable "black rage" from years of white oppression? How about a complicit media that vocally panders to one side and suppresses the other?
There were plenty of elections in the Soviet Union too, but they meant nothing. Like them, voter fraud is becoming the norm to the point of being institutionalized.
And of course the race-based policies that formally and legally disenfranchise conservatives and white people, in the name of "social justice". Or hate crime laws designed specifically to put more white people in prison. If that is not Orwellian, then Orwell never existed.
So yeah, your sacred elections are still taking place. Yay for that. I hope it works out for you, but the odds are, it won't.
I apologize for the rant.
