Seriously, I often wonder why shows like Sex in the City don't have episodes where the ~~tarts~~, err, I mean girls spend time visiting their docs and treating the exotic strains of venereal diseases they are incubating...

Saw one partial episode of this, Jersey Couture and Jerseylicious - the women all whine the same; all look alike with the fake bake tans, fake nails, black hair, animal prints and the attitude.

Never have been to New Jersey but from what I've seen on these shows, if it is even close to what New Jersey is like - they can keep it.

We usually go to Atlantic City a couple times a year for a few days, Usually we just go during the week when it’s not as crowded, last time we stayed over a weekend and by about 10:00 on Friday night I thought I was on another planet.

Good one! The truth is that many terrible things that have happened were set in motion by his policies and faults as well as Carter's and going back down the line of Dem Presidents. That would be a good book. "The sins of the Democrats coming home to roost. The tracing back of our problems to their roots".

I've never been there, but I'm not surprised after having been subjected to the show. I have heard that the beach in Atlantic City is very nice. Our idea of getting away from it all is fish camp in Maine, which is about as far removed from the Jersey shore as it's possible to be.

Most nights, I can barely stay awake until 10:00.

What is TV like nowadays? Is this a “reality” show?

The last time I saw any TV was around 2002, just one evening when I was stuck in a horrid motel.

The bouncers held the one guy while the so called actor punched him. The crowd was held back. One of the guys pressing charges didn't know he was even filmed until he was told by friends he was on TV. He needed to go to the hospital & is seeking damages. I am sure many Jersey guys would love to whip these guys but they have security.

In a society that becomes urban, has no real threats, is very affluent over several generations you begin to get a distortion in cultural norms and priorities. Societies generally become more centralized and more top down, regimented and structured over time. You see this in nearly every organization as it matures and grows as well. Eventually they have volumes of policies and rules. Even look at housing developments and the advent of HOAs, Constables......... You can't even paint a house that you own any color you want! What does all this mean? The one thing that in the West and urban world is truly left free and where people can express themselves is through their sexuality. You can't own a gun, drive a big car, hunt, fish, fly, or even make a fire in the forest, but you can go to a rave party, get drunk and smear your sweaty body against that of another. It's one of the last few real freedoms people have because unlike the 60s, they're not building muscle cars in their garage, they can't go out and cheaply or easily get a private pilots license, it's not easy to buy a weapon anymore in many places...... So what kids are left doing is to dye their hair pink, give themselves a weird hair-due, and have promiscuous sex. It really is that simple.

Urbanization of society is about the worst thing that can happen.

- Humans have a need to feel unique and special, and in a city you're just a number, one of millions. That's why the urge to stand out with cloths, hair etc. What is the perceived value of a person when you're just like the other 3,000 kids in the school? Those that were never taught what to value and simply live into the day without any moral compass, they usually are the ones searching and lost in this big nearly Matrix’esque like nightmare that some young kids are living.

- In any place people enjoy anonymity, they act out in ways that they never would do if their relatives friends etc. saw them. Cities allow for a high degree of anonymity. The prostitution, gay bars, swinger clubs......... (if you notice it's all about sex sex sex) are all things that these self perceived decent people would not agree with if it were to affect their own backyard, their own immediate family......

- In transient places, people feel little bond to the area or people therein. They generally invest less of their time or resources to develop the area or other people. This is further exacerbated when you have places or things that are “pubic” property and they are not perceived as ones own. Like a car rental, people will treat these things differently than their own. Cities with apartments, airports, train stations, tend to be places of low pride and ownership and personal bond to the area. Cities have a lot of public owned and transient areas.

- There is a disconnect with nature. In cities you might have a lot of folk talk about “green,regenerative sustainable, organic, natural,” products. But the truth is many kids don't even know where their food comes from! For them these buzz words are simply part of a fad they want to associate themselves with. The disconnect is pronounced in energy, trash, food, water....... Think of it this way. Before the advent of the super market and imports from the Southern Hemisphere, how feasible would it have been to live the diet of a Vegan? When people say they want no coal power, but also no nuclear power, what are they really saying? They must think the power is generated in the outlet. This is where this romantic vision of nature comes from. Don't describe nature for what it really is to them, ripping another animals throat out or eating something while it's still alive and trying to get away, that would make them feel uncomfortable..... lol

- You have a social disconnect. Ever notice that in a city you might see a social welfare recipient abuse the system and his neighbors know this and even think it's cool? Ever notice that the professional urban family has a negative population growth? What happened on a farm before social security if you had no kids and you became old? What happens to those that steal in a small rural community where all know that the theft will adversely affect them? In a city the consequences are hidden and so many levels removed that the reality of what is happening is not even perceived by the general public.

- Animals generally become aggressive when confined in small tight spaces. Do some research on rat experiments years past, they actually became cannibalistic. The point is when you pack lots of humans together in a tight space, they become more aggressive, and like in an elevator, their behavior changes. Another good example is on a nice hot summer day in a traffic jam...........

- They are awash with noise and light pollution. Many people in the cities are so desensitized to the light and noise that they don't even perceive it anymore. Your nervous system does however register these inputs, and it does affect us may it be in quality of sleep etc. Take some of them out of the city and after a few days when they unwind you might actually hear a statement like this, "Wow, it's so quiet here."

- People need their freedom. It's actually a natural need! In a city all that's really left to do is Fu$# and wear funny cloths and have weird hair. You get drunk and fu$#. College kids nearly universally agree that they love the city. That's because the city is an adult playground. You have the debonair heathens and savages, and then you have the ghetto heathens and savages, but the attraction to cities for most is a hedonistic craving that lives on sex, drugs, and consumption of idiotic over priced consumer goods like $500 purses. “Sex in the City” is the epitome of this. A bunch of old tarts (as you said) that have sex, party, and shop.

- Urbanization has given people time, arguably too much. Because we have machines doing the work for us, it leave little minds with nothing to do, that then start coming up with stupid ideas or cause trouble. Look at most ghettos and you realize the so called poor there have a lot of time on their hand, the neighborhood is falling apart, but what are the people doing? Nothing. How much does a bucket of paint cost? Seriously! One bucket of paint?! Yet these people sit around and complain, talk about their oppression, their plight, sit on the front porch.......bla bla bla while they cause trouble as a member of a gang etc. Misguided kids with no father figure (happens a lot in a city) and no moral compass (product of a secular public education and poor parenting) often become trouble because the gang becomes the father figure. These kids have a lot of time on their hand, as do most adults and while they talk about how little they have, little to no exertion is made to do anything productive. But they can make cool gang signs with their hands!/sarc

Unfortunately, for many this is where the high tech and managerial jobs are. So we are forced to live in a city. The advent of the suburb somewhat mitigates some of the negative influences of packing people together like rats. But nonetheless, I believe the city is a very unhealthy place for a family, even just a normal person that wants peace of mind. Not everyone in a city is garbage, but the environment and general influences are negative. It requires screening and a conscious effort not to fall into the stupid pit in which 2/3rds live. Cities define our country nowadays. Like New York city defines much of the state, the urbanized US today is the face and heart beat of the US. -IMHO
