Knowing that my son is at home right now drinking juice from one of these glasses, as soon as I read this alarmist story I became alarmed, flew in to a blind panic and ran around my office in an ever-widening circle screaming “What’ll we do, What’ll we do, What’ll we do; will someone PLEASE think of the CHILdren...”, until I slammed face first into a door frame.

Now my head hurts and my glasses are broken.

I think I’m going to sue McDonalds...

All together now.....China?

Exactly my thoughts when I first saw this. It seems like all the cheap junk that ends up being toxic/explosive/mutational always seems like it emanates from there. I half think it's a plot to subtly destroy our upcoming generation. As if the public schools weren't already doing that.

LF0202 - do the glasses say where they were made?

I hope it doesn’t leach into my Everclear.

My son has never licked or eaten the battery from his Yamaha TTR50 dirt-bike, either, but that hasn’t stopped our esteemed Consumer Products Safety Division from issuing a ban on small motorcycles due to “high lead content”.

What do they mean by cheap? They’re selling them for $1.99 per glass. Doesn’t sound ‘cheap’ to me.

I would think since they’re being recalled, they would become a collector’s item.

Oh, so you've met the guy in the next cube over from me, then?

I worked with a guy like that once. We had a small section of six cubicles (2x3). I was on the opposite corner from the guy, but he could be heard in quite the radius. You knew is was bad when the poor guy next to him just stood up and bolted, eyes watering, and with a disgusted look on his face.

This same offender would sound like a John Deere tractor, pop, pop, popping through the isles as he walked to and fro.

He even ripped one in a conference with customers once. The poor guy who was accompanying him on the visit just about died (literally and figuratively).

Toxic consumer products?

I'll bet that the cheap glasses were made in China...

Just kidding... Yes, I'm a troublemaker...

quote from Fox article on recall:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,593984,00.html?test=latestnews

In the case of the Shrek-themed glassware, the potential danger would be long-term exposure to low levels of cadmium, which could leach from the paint onto a child’s hand, then enter the body if the child puts that unwashed hand to his or her mouth.

They must have read your mind timeflies - or someone that works there has kids!
You’re welcome redreno. Maybe not worth worrying about but I’d rather be safe when it comes to children.

I really, really hate companies that do business with the Chinese Communist.

Here is hoping that company gets sued into the next century...

Or, just don’t lick the outside of the glass.

If you put one in a dishwasher, it could get cadmium residue on all your dishes.

McDonalds is refunding the purchase price PLUS ONE DOLLAR EXTRA to every customer who returns a glass.

Pretty darn good if you ask me.
