The other day, I experienced a problem with this with my Pontiac Grand Prix. I reached down and moved the aftermarket floormat back.
Problem solved.

There was a time one had to know how to drive to get a driver's license. Apparently that is not the case now...sigh.

The floormat “problem” I had was my fault; I knew it was creeping up. Just like if I had left a soda glass bottle on the floor.
No one takes responsibility anymore.

This happened to me a few years ago in my Explorer. The accelerator stuck when I went to pass a car. Luckily I was on a less traveled road and was pushing 90 MPH as the brakes had no effect. It all happened so quickly that you panic and don’t think too clearly. I don’t know why but I began pounding the accelerator pedal with my foot, which actually broke the pedal free from the floor mat that was covering it. I did not know the floor mat was the problem at the time and came to that conclusion sometime later. My guardian angel was on duty that night...

yes, very dangerous if someone left a glass soda bottle on the floor and it rolls under the brake pedal.

Oh my words! Has Obama gotten a team of top scientist on this to work on a vaccination?
I’m pretty sure the GM is the carrier of this nasty bug.

In Fords, this only happens when an optional Ford all-weather floor mat is set on top of the standard floor mat. The instructions that come with the optional mats warn not to stack the mats like this. So Ford has not caught Toyotosis after all.

Of course. Ford didn't take government money, so Ford must be destroyed.
I remember when Ford first started to do well after it didn't take the money. Many freepers posted comments analogous to “Ford better watch it's back”.
No surprise here at all.

My Ford floor mat does not stick. It slides all over the place, usually up against the gas peddle or sometimes behind the brake peddle.

It has nothing to do with floor mats or accelerators. It's another tactic used by BO/BS and his socialist minions to destroy their free enterprise competition.

Quite frankly if you are too stupid to react properly when your floor mat is hanging up your throttle, then I don’t want you in the gene pool.

AND, Earth to any clueless loons who experience this condition of having your accelerator stick (which at 66 is something not normal, but not unheard of as I've experienced this condition a couple times many moons ago) here's a suggestion to keep you from running into something at a high rate of speed: "SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, DUMMY!"
You will be surprised how quickly your vehicle will stop accelerating!!!
