A Grammy Award-winning rock band has canceled their upcoming concert in Arizona to protest the state's new immigration law.
Los Lobos decided to cancel their performance scheduled for June 10 at Scottsdale's Talking Stick Resort to boycott the new law. A representative from the band's booking agent confirmed the decision Thursday.
The band released a written statement saying they feel the law will "inevitably lead to unfair racial profiling and possible abuse of people who just happen to look Latino."
Los Lobos says they regret the inconvenience it may have caused their fans and the organizers of the event, but they feel it is the right thing to do.
We’ll trade: one illegal Mexican can stay, for every member of the band that leaves the U.S. permanently.
Via con dios muchachos!
Los Lobos bahahahahahahaahha! Who gives a flying one hander about Los Lobos?
Blah....
What other hits fo they have other than LA BAMBA?
ba.... la... bamba
Someone track down Dexy’s Midnight Runners, also from the “Where are they Now” file, and see what their position is.
Yep. They never broke out of the local scene, but were promoted like they were some sort of international rock stars.
Phhhhht...
Our pathetic media and educational system are to blame for this utter stupidity.
Do these celebrities realize that a substantial majority of the public is in favor of the Arizona law? Talk about stupid.
That reminds me—whatever happened to the Dixie Chicks? Are they still around?
What fans? you just lost your steenking fans!
Los Lobos still around? They havent done anything in like 25 years
Pretty weak when has beens are boycotting Arizona and it makes news. This is more like a story for WhoCares.com
I guess they ran out of Richie Valens songs to steal....
they do jose feliciano’s version of the Doors light my fire....
Callar y cantar.
sue them for breach of contract take them for every dime they have and then tell them not to show up in AZ or they will have to produce their papers.
More albums I need to throw in the trash.
Oh wait, I don’t have any...
How professional of them, canceling seven days before their performance. Must be nice to blow off a gig and their fans so cavalierly.
Of course, they could be lying and the truth is the gig fell through.
Boy, if this keeps up I will have to seriously consider moving to Arizona. Go Arizona.
This is probably a desperation move to gain fans. ...ANY fans.
I suspect most people's reaction to this story will be.... Los quien?
