I’d sure like to know who these smugglers are and what their source for the guns and ammo was. Most stories about someone busted for a “cache” of guns and ammo have all that in minute detail even if the gerbalist has to make it up.

If these were fully automatic weapons they captured, they must have caught them after they crossed over FROM Mexico!
To: TigersEye
I was thinking about that after posting this article. Bust the truck, pull the firing pins then release the truck and track it

Well, I like your idea but I was wondering where they got these guns in the first place. A legal source? Smuggled into the U.S. first? Absconded from a government armory?
Also who they were. U.S. citizens? When details like those are left out my propaganda radar goes off with the "hiding inconvenient facts" warning.

“175 fully auto assult rifles - new, in the box”
Hell, that ought to be real easy to sort out. It’s been illegal to import new full-auto weapons for private ownership since 1986.

The haul, in Laredo on the US-Mexico border, included assault rifles......... Real assault rifles? Or semi-auto AR's, AK's?

I have yet to read or see anything in any stories that indicates that states definitively these were full auto rifles. The MSM doesn’t know the difference between a full or semi-auto and call anything that isn’t a single shot bolt action rifle an “assault rifle.” Even then, black bolt action rifles are labeled “sniper” rifles.
So far there is nothing but conjecture from LEOs that the guns and stuff were headed for Mexico. I call BS. Nothing they had has been demonstrated as being illegal and it’s not illegal to drive down the road with 175 guns and 200 magazines. The government needs to put up or shut up.

The haul, in Laredo on the US-Mexico border, included assault rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition. It was humanitarian aid being transported by peace activists.
