Poll: Angle leads among GOP to face Reid

By Ralph Z. Hallow

3:25 a.m., Thursday, June 3, 2010

EXCLUSIVE:

Buoyed by endorsement from top conservatives, Sharron Angle has jumped into the lead among Republicans vying in Tuesday's primary for the right to face off against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid this fall, according to a poll released Thursday.

Endorsed by the Tea Party Express and the Club for Growth among others, Mrs. Angle, a former state assemblywoman with a conservative voting record, now leads former Nevada Republican Party Chairman Sue Lowden, according to David Paleologos, who conducted the poll for the Suffolk University Political Research Center.

The possible dethronement of a Democrat whom some political observers regard as the second-most powerful politician the country has drawn attention to a GOP nomination contest that, in the latest poll of 400 likely GOP voters, has the top three contestants in what amounts to a statistical tie, Mr. Paleologos told The Washington Times.

It was understandable that the political world from Las Vegas to New York City was abuzz on Wednesday with rumors that Mrs. Angle had leaped ahead of Mrs. Lowden -- long before the Suffolk poll's release.

Ideological purity assumes one ideology is always right, and that anyone who differs in any significant way is wrong. I an a conservative, but it occurs to me on a regular basis that I can be wrong. Equally important, the more purity you demand, the fewer people qualify. This adds up to defeats for Norm Coleman, and dem majorities. This means the dems control committees, libs get on the Supreme Court, and we get policies like Obamacare.

You like dem majorities - I don’t. Sarah Palin has not done us any favors by bring second tier candidates to the forefront, when others are in a better position to win.

Again, the Rove-McCain-Steele way has accomplished so MUCH!

It really excelled in stopping Democrat majorities all over the US, at every level.

I was called by an Angle supporter and that put me over the top to vote for her instead of Tark. Early voting ends tomorrow.

I didn’t think Lowden ran a good campaign, and she would be a lousy debater with Reid in the general election. So let’s see what Sharron’s got.

I’m surprised you still have this opinion after what we’ve witnissed in recent years. Specter, Collins and Snowe voting for the stimulus? What’s the purpose of sending a Republican to DC if he’s going to vote for bills as ridiculous as the stimulus? Better to have Boxer voting for the Stimulus then a liberal California Republican. At least then we wouldn’t have to take any credit for it or provided “bipartisan cover”.

If there is a Boxer, then there is a greater chance of a dem majority, which means they control committees. Let’s get Reps in, then worry about RINO fringes.

we’ve been there and done that.....as in 6 years of the Bush Administration with a Republican congress...and nothing conservative, except judges, got done.

The republican party should be clearly identified as a conservative party, and once it is, then it will have the best chance to gain a majority. I’ll never vote for a RINO. How’d Arnold work out in CA?

Winning for the sake of winning doesn’t produce good policy. Winning for the sake of conservative change does.

Your philosophy matches that of John Cornyn and Mitch McConnell, and we’ve seen how successful they’ve been in Washington. I’m not voting for a RINO so some establishment Repbulican can say he’s the head of some committee.

One more thought....

A Republican majority does us no good.

A Conservative majority does.

“Except judges” is a very, very big deal. Libs plan to use expansive interpretations of the Constitution to create “economic rights” which would be the end of America as we know it. This ALONE makes a Rep majority a must.

It is never good to loose. Al Franken is not preferable to Norm Coleman, etc.
