GRAND RAPIDS -- Former President George W. Bush was by turns affable, relaxed -- and deadly serious in his local appearance Wednesday.

"Yeah, we water-boarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed," Bush said of the terrorist who master-minded the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington. He said that event shaped his presidency and convinced him the nation was in a war against terror.

"I'd do it again to save lives."

I’m only disappointed in the fact I didn’t get to participate in waterboarding KSM.

Although he did a number of things right during 8 years, allowing the MSM and the rest of the left to engage in a relentless attack WITHOUT RESPONDING cost not only the republican party, but more importantly, the NATION dearly. Perhaps his greatest contributions—Roberts and Alito, although he was frankly FORCED into the former.

There’s a lot I would disagree with Bush on (immigration being one of them) but he was absolutely right to authorize the use of waterboarding on terrorist suspects.

We are in a state of war with radical islam, and as such are fully justified in using whatever means necessary to obtain information that could save American lives.

Great point. Although I respect his opinions on maintaining the dignity of the office and so-forth, the truth is that we are now living in the post-Alinsky era where absolutely EVERYTHING is subject to the political equivalent of Extreme Cagefighting. Do you damned well better be out there defending yourself with as good as you get.

And at least he is a man. Unlike the punk currently pretending to be president.

...we are now living in the post-Alinsky era...

Sickening that this is the norm. We were warned that this was happening for years and years.

What a great man, he will go down as one of the greatest American Presidents in history. Indeed, he is one of the greatest world leaders of all time. His liberation of over 50 million people, his stance on life, his respect for individual rights and private ownership. A great American and a great conservative. God Bless George W Bush!

I should call Hannity when he’s doing his radio show and ask him if he’d water board me on TV.

The amnesty stuff was a huge mistake and not vetoing McCain Feingold.

He lost his conservative base over amnesty. I also blame idiot Americans for paying $50 to 120 a month for cable and sat TV so they can be serfs. The 5 TV networks control 95% of the channels and they HATE Repubs/conservatives. Fox? Saudi owned.

BTW - I worked hard to get GW elected and re-elected plus spent money too. The amnesty thing was a huge mistake plus McCain Feingold. Still a very good man. The 8 years of Bush were heaven compared to now.

Grand Rapids is a nice town.

The defense and reasoning for everything he did was out there and still is if people cared to look. But if the press won’t report it and make it clear, but instead is determined to destroy him, his presidency, the VP, Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales and everyone associated with his administration, they’ll do it. They did it. But history will be kinder and more truthful.
